Subject: [1500] - Necrons - HELP

I recently bought some Necrons from a friend and was wondering what to do with them to create a good army list!! I don't know how many points I have in total, but a 1500 point list would probably be ideal!!
I have:
1x CCB/AB (Unbuilt)
1x Battleforce (Unbuilt)
1x Night Scythe
40x Necron Warriors
2x Necron Lords
5x Destroyers
1x Destroyer Lord
1x Spyder
10x Immortals (5 Tesla, 5 Gauss)
About 15 Scarab Bases
And who I believe is Tranzyn the Infinite!!
Any help on a list I could already make that is somewhat playable would be great, and suggestions for purchases necessary are welcome too!!
Help me DakkaDakka, you're my only hope!!

I would build the CCB/AB but magnetize it so you can swap between the two, both are quite good for their points. As for the battle force, I'd build Deathmarks rather than Immortal as they are a very solid Anti-Monstrous Creature unit, and then build the Ark as a Ghost Ark. If you can manage to magnetize the darn thing go for it, but either you won't magnetize the side guns and it'll look terrible depending on how you're fielding it, or you will magnetize them and it will take FOREVER.
The only thing I would suggest adding to your army would be two boxes (6 Models) of Canoptek Wraiths. The best close combat unit in the Necron Codex hands down, especially for their points. Maybe another Ghost Ark eventually, you'll have enough warriors for it. And perhaps one Cryptek?
Run an Overlord in a CCB, D-lord with the Wraiths, 10 Warriors in a GA, 20 Warriors on Foot, 5 Deathmarks in the NS with the Cryptek, a Fully Kitted out Spider next to the warrior blob and GA and a unit of scarabs. Then use any left over points to nab a Lord with Rez Orb for you warrior blob and you should be good to go. You could probably get up to 1850 if you really wanted to.

You don't need to magnetise a Barge, the interchangable pieces neatly click into place on their own.
I actually would steer you away from a Catacomb Command Barge with that setup though. It synergyses very well with the now very common lists of mechanised Necrons, but what you have there is massive warrior hordes and the start of a solid set of Canoptek support. If you add more spyders and a few spare scarabs for generation (Blank bases usually do in a pinch for generation given the low profile and difficulty aquiring scarabs without investing in warrior boxes) along with a Wraith unit, you'll have an agressive assault and massed fire list that the Command Barge doesn't play as well with, forming a massive points sink with durability against shooting as it's main virtue. There's cheaper distraction units around if drawing fire is your goal.
I second turning the battleforce immortals into Deathmarks. Very good unit.
And yes, Lords and Crypteks as unit commanders are an exellent way to add a little personality to the implacable faceless horde, especially if you have fun with conversion ideas.
Or you could just buy up tons of vehicles and go more mechanised, it's certainly a solid and currently highly popular tactical method. Harder on your wallet from this starting point though.

I'd wait until Necrons get their new Codex before buying/building anything, since there may be better options than what you currently have.

If you're worried particularly about that, then I'd recommend playing through December with a 1000 points list made up from what you've already got. You can run the Destroyer Lord in a unit of Scarabs as ablative wounds with a buff from his Preferred Enemy rule as your warlord, play the Destroyers, Spyder, Annihilation Barge and Deathmarks for support, and fill in the rest of your points with warriors and immortals with dedicated transports.
Should be okay variety and fun there.

I will definitely invest in some Wraiths as soon as possible!!
Looking further ahead, is the Tesseract Vault a good investment?

Nope!
The Obelisk isn't very good in most situations, the vault isn't as good as the Transcendent C'tan, and the Transcendent C'tan can easily be proxied by a regular or custom converted C'tan. The kit might well match your idea of looking cool, but it's a massive price sink for little return.
Especially as in most areas, you'll only get to play Escalation or Apocalyse a few times a year.
Might I steer you in the direction of the Tesseract Ark from Forge World instead? Half the price, not a superheavy but still a heavier and more effective tank than the Monolith, and very easily converted from a Ghost Ark kit with a reference photo if you want to save a little extra. Easier to play in regular games too.
Basically think a Landraider with no transport capacity but three very strong firing modes. 48 inch heavy three AP2 blast anyone?

The Tesseract Ark looks amazing!! Anybody have ideas for other proxies of a Transcendent C'tan then?

I have a heavily converted Ushabti serving as my Overlord, and a less converted one as my C'tan. Easy to tell them apart since the Overlord has all her Necron wargear and the C'tan has a gigantic spear-sword combo and a brightly glowing green paintjob. Got good character mileage out of that box.

Ooh looking up what Ushabti (I don't play Fantasy, lacking all knowledge there ) I saw Nagash, now obviously it would be one seriously expensive Transcendent C'Tan model, but could it work, aesthetically?

Yeah...but one of the best things about the Transcendent C'Tanis that the model is small which means you can block Line of Sight very easily and keep your LoW alive.

Could also be considered modelling for advantage if you take the power where everything it flies over takes a D hit.
I did seriously consider doing a Transcendent Nagash, even had the conversion idea lined up for a sort of space-Egyptian Athena. Green stuff smoothed hourglass figure torso, female head, all the books showing her to clearly be a goddess of knowledge...
What stopped me was threefold:
Just for the base kit, ignoring other parts, more than triple the cost of a normal C'tan.
The aforementioned modelling for advantage issue.
And of course, the lack of an obvious female monstrous creature head usable in a GW store.
Kind of a shame, but I've put the idea of an epic tran-C'tan on the back burner for now and just use my regular one if it comes up.

Ooh good points - I could see both being a problem (one for me, one for my opponent )
I'll keep looking for other alternatives!!
