Subject: Capcom (accidently) Announces Street Fighter V
Not that Xbox One would know as it is a PS4 and PCexclusive.
This morning a Capcom video briefly popped up online confirming Street Fighter 5 and that it would be a PlayStation 4 and Windows PC exclusive, according to a NeoGaf thread.
The video, which has since been removed, talks about "rising up" and breaking through your ceiling. It concludes with a shot of the logo for the game and the words "exclusively on PS4 and PC." It also includes a link to what appears to be the future landing page for the new game, though the page isn't live yet.
Of course the word "exclusive" has so many different meanings in the video game industry that it's hard to tell if this game will never show up on an Xbox platform, or if it will just show up there later.
It appears the video was set live accidentally a bit early. This weekend two events promise to have a number of new trailers, news and game reveals. The first ever Game Awards kick off tonight in Las Vegas and the PlayStation Experience officially starts on Saturday. Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono tweeted early this morning that he had just arrived in Las Vegas for the PlayStation Experience.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Next year they'll accidentally announce Street Fighter V Super Alpha. And the year after that Street Fighter V Ultimate, which will contain at no extra charge all the DLC that was on Street Fighter V's game disk, as well as a host of new DLC for you to buy (which will be released free of charge the next year in Street Fighter V Complete).
It gives more incentive to buy one platform over the other.
I don't think many people buy a console just for that 1 game that is only available on said console. Few people spend $300 just so they can spend another $60. Those days have kind of passed.

And? The running theory behind exclusivity is that "if game x is only available on our platform, people will buy our produce to play X." Except no matter how much someone might like Halo, if Halo is all they like on an XBox, they might not buy one just to play Halo. Not when the bulk of the library is also on a Playstation, PC, or whatever they already have.
Arguably this worked when there were only 2 major consoles, or further back when the people making the consoles were also largely the ones bankrolling the games on them, or when consoles were a bit cheaper, but times have changed. The market power of exclusivity has greatly diminished (unless you're Nintendo).
Halo CE was the last game imo to actually sell a console.

Only explanation is if Sony is bankrolling them in a similar way to the way Nintendo bankrolled Platinum Games for Bayonetta 2.
That was my guess as well. Considering the financial issues they have been dealing with it is the only reason I can see them limiting such a popular title.

Just remember everyone, this is just Street Fighter V. By the time Capcom is done, we'll have:
Street Fighter V
Street Fighter V Turbo
Street Fighter V Turbo Extreme
Super Street Fighter V
Ultra Street Fighter V
... so when I say things like "Don't buy unfinished games", this actually applies to Capcom's full releases, because they don't release full games until years after the initial release. When you avoid the on-disc DLC locked behind a paywall in the first four versions of the game, you'll thank me.
Apparently it is not a timed exclusive and will only ever be on PS4 and PC. As the article states (and HMBC) it says nothing about other iterations of SFV. More interesting is the cross platform play between PS4 and PC.

Cross-platform is very interesting.
And also:
Nintendo takes Bayonetta. No PC release. Microsoft takes Halo. Gives PC a shot, but then gives up. Tries again with Gears of War. "Too hard" basket again. Sony takes Street Fighter. Releases it on PC.
Also, trailers:

Agree with this, but it seems to be most games these days. Wait a few years and get it for a decent price with the content added and/or the bugs fixed. Sometimes due to members of the community and not even the devs themselves. Does it have blanka?

Two items of particular note there, imo.
The first is that the Capcom guy mentioned a partnership with Sony. That pretty much confirms why it's not showing up on the X-Box. This also hints that the later iterations of it won't, either. The second is that the guy states that the partnership with Sony is why they were able to set up cross-platform play. I'm not sure why that would be the case, but I'm wondering if Sony did all of the heavy lifting to set the cross-platform capability.
I wish more games had that feature. The lack of it on games that should have it is very frustrating at times.
