Decided to sculpt a bust. Hoping that the larger scale will help me develop my skills.

Quick concept sketch:

Early sculpting progress:

I'm using a Green Stuff / MagicSculp mix and have recently moved to using Vaseline as a lubricant (previously used tap water).

Looks great, but it's better off in a different P&M section. I'm going to fly us over to blogs, but if you aren't going to do more on it just let me know via PM and I'll stick it in the regular P&M section

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Hehe, thanks guys!

Motyak: Cheers :-) I'll keep adding to this post as my sculpt progresses so that's cool.

I'm really enjoying this piece so far. I've decided on a jesters hat but am debating between a ruffled clown collar and one of those jesters collars (the type with bells). Any thoughts? I have sculpted a lot of ruffled clown collars and see it as a nice continuity between my models. Similarly, a jesters hat and collar combo might be a bit boring and samey. What do you guys reckon?

The jesters hat is looking rather like Satan's horns!

The underpinning is currently segmented to allow further shaping of the armature when the putty cures. The hat will probably have four tails in total and I'm considering either bells or skulls at the end of each...

Looking good! Why have to choose between bells or skulls though? I think two of each would look pretty sweet myself.

Thanks for the comments guys :-) I will practice sculpt a few different bits for the jesters hat (skull, bell, shrunken head) and decide what looks best!

I've been working on a piece of concept art. This will be included as a limited edition art card (if he is cast) and should also help me to visualise the remaining steps of the sculpture. I hope you like it!

Anyway, progress! Plenty of corrections to make, details to build on etc... At some stage I will remove the head again as I want to change the angle of the neck.
