As all of you know gw released new 32 mm bases Long with the new tacticals.
In a letter they told us that Using 32 mm bases is ok now... So... As a Future blood angels player... Is it gamewise better to have 32 mm bases?
You can have contact with more models in cc.. Also more models can contact with you:-).

I think people with unstable models will be happy for a larger base to put them on.

Less wobbly model syndrome.

The cool thing about this is we have more space to put cool stuff on our bases.

I wont be re-basing nor will this change effect me, but if I where to start this game fresh I would use the bigger base option. Basing is like the coolest part of modeling.

I think the difference in cc is miniscule, and I think it would be a pretty artificial circumstance to make it a substantive difference in a game.

The circumference difference is "substantial" relative to each other, but much less so relative to the game space and scenarios where that would matter.

I think the more substantive difference is blocking LOS or forming a base-to-base chain. I guess I would prefer a bigger base, in those cases, since the radius matters when you chain up, say 10 units (that would be 70mm 'more', and that is more than enough to notice). And, you would be likely to have fewer units hit by templates.

Still, how many 40k games do you lose because 1 25mm model in a squad got hit?

Frankly, I think oval vs round bases on MCs make a much bigger difference.

Do the new releases contain 25mm bases still, or is it 32mm only? That might help solve some of the dilemma.

32 only.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but does anyone know why they're using 32mm bases, as opposed to 30mm bases?

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

1.25 inches (rounded) and/or between 25mm and 40mm bases (rounded).

However, the box set still used 25mm for the smaller 'nids while adding 32mm for the marines.

Could be that this is just going to apply to marine sized models that have gotten too big for the 25mm. Guard, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau, etc might stay in 25mm.

That's the way its currently looking.

I can't imagine them seriously making 32mm for horde infantry models. Just imagine how much more space a Guard platoon would take up on larger bases.

Hopefully, it would make sense for marines, orks, and Necrons to be on larger bases. Are they making the models larger? It's kind of silly that they're the same size as my guardsmen.

I emailed them asking about this, basicaly its to solve wobbly model syndrome and to give the modelers more leway for modeling, with rules it will be much like old terminators, so in the hands of TOs

One potential difference. If a line of models on 32mm bases (using 2 inch spacing) gets a direct hit from a large blast, only 1 model will be under it, instead of 3 for 25mm bases.

I won't be rebasing but any future Marine projects will be on the bigger bases, just makes them look better as models in my opinion.

My gaming group discussed it and thought it made very little difference to the overall game if someone did put all their Marines on the newer bases.

I've mentioned this, although it cuts both ways: you have a bigger base, so there is more chance the base will be touched by a template, too.

You also cover an extra 70mm per 10 units when building a LOS blocking barrier. Though this also makes your unit harder to hide or keep in cover.

Sometimes being Frodo helps, and other times, Boromir has it better

I find them stupid. It means that if marines reach melee more of my IG will be pulled in to base to base. The fact that a big blast now only got even worse helps making the basic LR even "better".

I imagine the new 32mm bases are for marines only. I hope they are anyway, no way in hell I'm rebasing all of my orks and buying all of them new bases...

This reminds me of when they changed base sizes in Epic, going from square bases to rectangle ones. Older armies benefitted more from cover and newer ones from not being so affected by blast markers.
Most people that started out in the older system ran a combination of small and large bases, as I imagine we will see here. For myself, I've got too dang many minis too rebase.

They're showing them on the new Necrons as well.

But, yet again, there is no need to rebase existing models.

I've been very much out of the loop as of late. But, to summarize:

1. 32mm bases for Space Marines in powered armor.

2. 50mm bases for ____? Terminators?

3. I can keep the current bases I use now.

4. Will Adepticon and other tournaments make me make the switch now? In 2 years?
