Deep Striking throw away units that are super cheap are excellent in Maelstrom games for netting points on far-away objectives. Field them and see!

6 won't do much sadly. If anything, I run them in 10-15 with a Nob and Klaw for some seriously fast and deadly assaults on vehicles or objective holding squads. With 6, they will die even quicker, and you'll probly lose whatever doesn't die to shooting by their own jetpacks blowing up :p

Though once I get more, I do plan on trying 20+ squds just for fun. But they are best used in smallish strike sized squads so they can make the most use of of terrain to keep them alive until they strike.

They are a mobile speed bump.

They can put multiple str 4 CC attacks on rear AV 10 and statistically guarantee some damage.

Stikkbomb

They are cheap overwatch fodder.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

The "mobile speed bump" is one way to use them...I like to think of throwaway units as a fence...just line them up in front of a fast (non-jump) unit, and you take away 1 turn of movement. This can be very significant, denying cavalry their 12 inch move. If you are really lucky, they'll not all be mowed down and you can do it twice.

It's situational, though, and the unit has to be in the right place at the right time.

Try ebay.... I got 30 w/PK nob of the OOP ones for $20-30. New models are cooler, but how much will you field tgem? I'm not stoked about deep striking them. They can be in your opponents face pretty quick as is (T2 almost guaranteed charge). But just too expensive (point wise) to justify them.

I find them to be more justifiable than ever with their point decrease and bigger potential squad sizes. Less than 10 points a model is huge compared to before. Though they are still just Boyz. Though they are not a brainless choice. You've got to know your opponent and how they tend to listbuild, or they can be useless points outside of objective hopping (Which honestly ISN'T a bad option for them with their crazy mobility).

Their big problem is, like most things in the codex, their slot is usually fought with by much more desirable options. (Especially with Warbiker point decrease, Deffkopter and buggy point drops, and even the Trukk got a small drop in points making it a little easier to squeeze an extra transport in the list if absolutely needed)

Deep Striking them...I doubt I'd do that with them very often, since they do a good enough job of killing themselves without the help of mishaps. Not to mention the only reason WORTH deep striking them in the first place is no longer an option (Zagstruk's amazing old rule, which to this day I think is the largest heap of garbage to remove it)

I run stormboyz for my footsloggas and find them being decent. The guyz have 22-29 average charge range on the WAAAAGH! 12 + 2d6 + 2d6 with 1 reroll. That's 2d6 faster than bikers. And they can fly the first 12' over other models or terrain. That's something quite useful for area denial and board controle.

I prefer to run 10 + PK BP nob and hide them behind blos when possible. If you take yoo many of them, it's gona be harder to hide the guyz and if you take too few, they'll die to a drive-by unit.

With only 6, I'd hide them amongst a big infantry mob, ready to jump out and kill a vehicle or snatch an objective. Or on a terrain-heavy table, they could be a useful distraction unit.

Well, if you want more of them, it's not too hard to kitbash them using choppaboyz + something that looks like ork jump-rokkits attached to their backs. And in all fairness, ork jump-rokkits could look like anything.

Yes, looted marine jump packs are often an easy cheap option to make more stormboyz. Having more than 6 would certainly give more options for the OP.
