Some of halfords auto spray paints can be good for basecoats. I use their white and grey spray primers.

Not sure if they do matt purples. However, you could seal with a clear matt varnish to remove the shine if they only do glossy ones.

Umm they are fine for priming but I'm looking for more of a art acrilic Matt spray . I know they are out there. Cheers

Not sure if you have it in the UK or not, but Duplicolor sandable primer was the best spray primer i ever used. It's a hand-held aerosol can spray primer used in auto repair ; you can usually find it in auto parts stores and chain car repair stores that also have retail parts stores attached to them. For instance, here in the states, Pep Boys sells it.

Being an auto primer, its INCREDIBLY flat and matte, and you can get it in just about any color you want. Though something like purple might be a special order.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Not yet but might try them for speed painting my BA's once the weather gets warmer (using Halford's red oxide primer then a bright red over).
The range is huge compared to everything else I've seen & at £3.25 for 400ml is way cheaper too. Worth throwing a couple of quid at an old model to try them.

Take a look here https://www.graff-city.com/

Pretty much all the montana range that wayland do and soem more.

I use Kobra, mainly as I like their pigmentation and the covering properties of their spray. The finish is Gloss(ish) and can be a bit thick if applied to close to the article being painted. However it is tough.

I have had hit and miss results with Liquitex. I like it but have had problems in the past with clogging and temperature plays a part in its performance.

Ironlak Sugar is something I have started looking at as it has a matte finish. I would say look at this spray for your needs but I have limited experience with it.

Using these sprays on wargaming models is secondary to my usual use.

You could also experiment with this too https://www.graff-city.com/product_info.php?products_id=2005 Says its matt finish, you could always e-mail the guys at Graff City - they are super cool and should help you out.

Hope that helps.

Out of all the choices here I'd go Montana or Army Painter.
With a firm nod in Montanas favor..
