I Play against a good Friend of Mine with my new picked up blood angels.
We Play a small game with 1000 points each.
He will Play with his tyranids, its his First Game in 7 th.
I want to Play this list

Furioso librarian ml lvl 2, heavy flamer

10 tac marines, flamer, heavy flamer, sarge with handflamer and chainsword.
All in drop pod

Is this ok for a friendly game?

I think it's fine, very anti-Nid so he'll suffer a bit, but no one learns if you just 'give' them the game.

Should i Drop the Heavy flamers and flamethrower for plasma or something?

I would drop a flame group for plasma simply because of how bad Plasma can hurt a TMC. But, I also wouldn't have put swords on the Sergeants. Give them both a Hand-Flamer and a Bolt Pistol. Same bonuses, and an extra shot before combat. There is literally no downside. Friendly or not, BA have easy access to Gunslinger so take that advantage.

Personally, in my 1000, I always have 3 minimum Monstrous Creatures. And a Flyrant. So that's about 700pts of Big Bugs and the rest are gribblies. Gaunts and such with a couple Warriors or Zoanthropes. No Biovores or Cannon-types because at 1000 you have to be mobile. That would be a huge lesson for the the Nid player to learn. No points to spare on backfield support bugs. The Plasma drop could take advantage/teach him not to if he tries to split his force in an ill-advised way.

I think the battle will hinge on the mid-ground battle between the Sang-force and whatever you throw them against.

If this is an anti-nid list (I don't know since I don't play against them often), then I would advise re-writing it.
If this is his first game of 7th and he has a terrible time being smashed, he'll probably be turned away.

Never tailor your armies.

I would advise not introducing him to the ridiculousness of drop pods until later. Fight with a standard "on the field" force.

Its certainly okay as long as you play Tactical Marines.

No theres nothing wrong with that list, If it is his very first time ever player 40k tho I would suggest you make it easier for him to win/don't go all out to destroy him, try to make the game fun with the choices that you make even if they are sub-optimal. Sure you could gun down his hivetyrant, but why not charge it instead? make the game fun ^^

If you want to have a fun game then drop the drop pods and go with rhinos. Pods will ensure one of you gets tabled by turn 3 and removes a lot of the tactics from the game.

You could bring both and ask him if he is playing any of the following:
- genestealers
-old one eye
- carnifexes (unless they have twin linked devourers)
- lictors
- hormagaunts
- trygons
- tervigons
- swarm lord

If he answers yes to any of those (especially if he says yes to more than one!) your probably going to stomp him anyway so might as well soften your list up a bit.


Also make sure you tell him that the furioso will instakill anything in melee without letting it have any saves (and probably before it gets to strike even!). In fact the only way he can really kill it is by flying behind it with a flyrant and shooting it in the back with the one good weapon in the tyranid codex.

I think a better question is 'Are you playing flying hive tyrants and how many?'.

Beyond that, everything in the codex is fairly normal power-level. If he's a new player, I doubt he's using formations.
