I'm an ork collector at heart and was wondering if the flash gitz are actually worth their points in games. Since I just revised the codex and noticed the difference between 6th and 7th I was wondering if they are any use or if anyone takes them in a battle.

Can be fun to play though. Especially if you get a lucky roll, 3 Assault St5 Ap d6 can be pretty vicious to your meanest foes.

They can hit back pretty hard in CC too. I wouldn't use them to assault, but if you know its coming for you it's not a bad gig.

They can be used in mechanised lists and be decent from time to time. Basically when you roll low enough on ap when needed. They're definitely not an auto-include but won't be too handicapping.

They are a million times better than they were in the old dex, they look awesome and can be really fun. Unless you are a min-maxer I'd say go for it if you like em, I'm working on a iron ship style skimmer counts as battle wagon for mine.

That sounds really cool. If I was going to do orks I'd either do a really pirate themed army like that, or go with Snakebites and do a really feral army, Squiggoths as battle wagons and such. I might be doing Orcs and Goblins in fantasy with loads of Savage Orcs and forest Goblins.

Really need to stop thinking of cool army ideas -.-

If gitz get their AP3 or lower shooting they can obliterate MEQs while with a poor roll they do basically the same as 20 shoota boyz. Gitz I think work in Battlewagon lists as they have their AV14/12 shell protecting them and if ignored can unload a lot of BS3 shooting. They have the advantage of 2 wounds so the wagon exploding is much less impactful.

You know, I feel like if they were an elite choice (like nobs (which they are basically the shoota version of)) and had the option to buy 'eavy armor (like nobs) they would be amazing. I would pretty much never not field them. As it is, they're not bad. Its just you have to weigh up 10 nobs with random ap guns vs 5 men guns/ 15 lootas/ a battle wagon/ etc.

With gitfindas all around and assault 3 24" guns they're basically snipers when compared to pretty much everything else. AND though not a great idea to throw them into cc, they all have nob profiles and 2 wounds to boot, so they can hold their own.

Edit:
Do be aware they can take a dedicated battle wagon, however, as they are nobs.

My honest opinion (and tell me if I'm wrong) 1-4 isn't bad at all... Almost an average ap value at 3-4 and excellent at 1-2 meaning that only 33% of the time you get a crappy ap value

They also have a formation in one of the red waaagh! Supplements that gives master crafted to their guns if you combine 2 ten man squads of flash gifts and kaptain badrukk into one giant squad. Makes their bs great in our codex, but there's no real way to protect them (cant fit 21 in a battlewagon, otherwise it'd be great), so that ones up to you. Womp womp.

disregard what i just said. They don't have to all get thrown into one squad to get the mastercrafted bonus. You can just take 2 squads of 10 man flash gits and kaptain badrukk seperate and still get the bonus.

And i tend to agree with pain4pleasure. If you don't lean too heavily on the random ap, it's not really a problem. If you're fighting anything with a 4+ AS, chances are 2/3 it will be ignored. 1/2 on tactical squads. So not bad at all. Just don't DEPEND on it as your source of ap2 to fight terminators. It might wipe out a squad of terminators one turn. then again it probably won't. I'd use it more for hunting MEQ or 4+ save guys instead. Even if you don't get the AP needed for those, 30 shots (potentially with mastercrafted (so probably with 10 rerolls)) at s 5 is going to do a TON of damage still. I think if you're debating another squad of shootas to add more shooting power, i'd probably try out flash gits, honestly.
