Okay, try is again! Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay, see that?
That is baloney! I tried to rotate the bloody pics on my iPad, after hours of reading inane PDA advice forums, I learned how to rotate pics on my iPad. Which I was trying to do here, but obviously this didn't work. Automatically Appended Next Post: The top one is rotated one way, the bottom one the other way. Now they display in their actual position? When then were oriented properly on the iPad they would upload on here sideways. No that I've rotated them they upload in their original sideways glory? Automatically Appended Next Post: If someone has any experience with this issue, please feel free to help me out. If you're not a mod and you wanna give me gak for uploading sideways pics, eat glue.

Another attempt at rotating pics. An experiment regarding the binary relationship between dakkadakka and iPad, and just how long does it take to fling technology against a wall?
Sounds like a great book title!

Oh my god!
You just have to rotate the pic all the way around and then it uploads! Now I wonder...
...can I get away with a quick half rotate, there and back, or does iPad require me to completely rotate the pic through the 360 degrees of circular madness? Automatically Appended Next Post: Noooooo! I have to fully rotate!

Are you just rotating them in a viewer on your iPad, or an actual image editor?

A poster here had a similar issue on his iPhone 4, which whilst not an iPad, will certainly use the same Apple-flavoured software. One of the Admins left a few potential fixes: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/622285.page#7361335

Happens for like 1 in every 20 pics or so. Weird!

Have you tried uploading the pictures to a site like Imgur or Photobucket, and inserting them using IMG tags?

I had the same issue with my ipad. I found if I always took the picture with the button on the front of the ipad on the right hand side, the pics came out right way up.

Well it's all sorted now. I just have to remember to "wind up" my pics before uploading. Though I can only do 1 at a time still. If I upload more than 1 it just uploads however many copies of the first image loaded.
About the bases. I've redone most of them. The ones you see here the texture is unpainted. The redone ones have a dark grey trim and the snow is painted a bit better. Automatically Appended Next Post: I also thank the forum for persevering with my learning curve!

Did you remember to anoint the processer and internal hardware with sacred oils, and honour your bowsers machine spirit?
Could it be some form of auto rotation in a dumb way masking it fit best? Some camera do it, and not always get it right

Hey! Auto Rotate sounds like a likely suspect... I'll invetigate this further. In the meantime I have a pre-wound pic of most of the mighty Green Marines. I've been slowly redoing the entire army and breaking it up into Companies.
In some sad news I realized I absolutely have to strip and repaint my new tacticals. Thankfully I have the DV squad to pull combat duty. They at least are stripped and primed already, they just need the green and white!
What do you think of my new bases? Mostly just repainted them with different softer colours of blue and changed the edging. Not all of them are done mind you...
Anyways here is that pic...

It's a Dakka issue. It rotates all my phone and tablet photos even though they display normally on my PC.

Not really a Daka issue, specifically. The same thing happens quite often with Twitter, Facebook, most other forums...
There is additional data which is not part of the standard image format - either embedded as metadata or as an external source. Most web based applications do not have the ability to read - or access to that data.
Depending on the phone/tablet in question - it expects images to be taken in a specific orientation (portrait or landscape...). The image data will always be stored in that orientation, with the additional information regarding the actual way the image was taken being stored separately. When a device or software package that is not set up to receive that information receives the image - it will display it in the default orientation.
Even using various tools to rotate or flip the images on your phone (and often on the computer) will not reset this default display information. Usually the only thing that will is something that actually transforms the image data (crop, resize, save as a different format). This rewrites the image data in a new file with a new orientation.
