So I was thing about the Stormraven lately, and I remembered that it has doors compatible with the Rhono pattern tanks. Would a small tank with Hurricane Bolted sponsons be good? Perhaps it would have the Razorback's transport capacity, but only have a Storm Bolter instead of a turret. That or it could be a variation of the Predator, perhaps with unique turret to go with them, though it would fill the same role as the Baal Predator.

Wouldn't be that good, you'd be paying roughly 20-30pts more (based on Storm Raven upgrade) for a few more Bolter shots, that can only rarely target the same unit due to the sponson placements, and you'd lose 2 access points on what is already a pretty reliable, but very weak transport.

That was my thought as well. A Predator variant with Hurricane Bolters would be kinda cool though. Perhaps even a Baal Predator variant. The sponsons would pair rather well with the assault cannon. Thought they wouldn't exactly offer anything more than the heavy bolter does.

I think it could work, the question is how you want to work it.

As a razorback varient, it’s a little odd (as you are talking sponsons rather then a top turret) but workable. From a fluff POV, it’s going to be used against hordes, and should do pretty well in that role. Good for a close support IFV. How to price it might be a little questionable. And there is the question of wether or not to give it the top hatch back as a firing port, now that the turret is not there. Probably charge something for that.

If you are talking predator variants, going with the stock vanilla is going to be rough. Mostly because there is zero synergy with either the AC or the TLLC. The Baal is a much more likely option. The TLAsC or flamestorm has a lot more in common with the hurricanes, and the fast nature of the tank will get you into optimal range quicker. Compared to either the HB or HF sponsons they fill a middle ground. More range then the flamer, shorter then the bolter, less strength then both, but higher ROF at close range.

Frankly, seeing that the bits are in production, I’m surprised GW/FW haven't made a tank with them yet.

It's a good concept, I too thought of it and the hurricane bolter and auto cannon pred has been fairly good in my test games, we priced it at 15pts so less than the hb

I could see it being a great variation for a rhino - drop transport to 6 and lose 2 access points, but gain horde killing firepower and leave the top hatch usable. stick some anti tank inside and blow open a tank before killing the guys who come out.

I'd price it fairly low for the drop in transport and loss of access points. maybe 15 points, as it could prove a vicious combo.

The things you want to shoot hurricane bolters at tend to come in wads of 20+ guys. Just point your nose at them and you should be able to shoot both sponsons at the same target.

As a DA player, this sounds like an awesome ride for a command squad with a Banner of Devastation. 24 Twin Linked bolter shots woul be nice.

I have no idea what I am doing.

My Codex Sisters of Battle: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/609583.page#7102148 includes has Sanctifier Squadrons which are 1-3 Fast Hurricane Bolter Rhinos. They're AV F12 S12 R10 and cost 95 points each. It can also take 1 additional Gun: The Holy Trinity (Heavy Bolter, Heavy Flamer, or Multi-melta), or an Avenger Megabolter for 25 points. It's not a transport.

It was inspired by the Baal Predator.

There was some discussion already on this unit in my threads:

I too have a similar tank - the Infernus Assault Vehicle - homebrewed for Sisters, although it could be easily given to Marines instead.

The Infernus Assault Vehicle started life as a modified Mk1 Predator. The first true Infernus Assault Vehicles came into service during the Second Siege of the Emperor's Palace, however, as a forgotten cache of late prototypes was found by Sister Serendipity of the Brides of the Emperor. Until then, the Brides had lacked any true sally capability, as their rhinos and chimeras lacked the heavy armour to survive more than a few seconds outside the palace walls.

I'd be nervous about using it in most cases, as we pay out the wazoo for the standard and a rhino is far from durable. Maybe effective in small games, but in anything that someone has lascannons or the like would be begging for death.
