So I have a total of 28 Genestealers (22 from Space Hulk, 6 from Battle for Macragge) that I want to convert into a playable Tyranid army. Genestealers generally suck, I know this, but I was thinking if the combination of small point game and spamming them will be enough to overwhelm the enemy with them. Furthermore, I have broken them up into small squads, which makes it more difficult for the enemy to wipe them out at once (also because in small points games he will have less squads on the board to assign 1 to shoot each of them) and more squads also means more freedom of movement for me, including grabbing objectives. Anyho, here's my list:
HQ 215:
Hive Tyrant w. 2 sets of scything talons, wings and Adrenal glands
Troops 280:
5 Genestealers
5 Genestealers
5 Genestealers
5 Genestealers
Total: 495
So I managed to squeeze in 20 of my 28 Genestealers, which is pretty good.
I also have a melee flyrant who will start the game in gliding mode and use his wings to get himself a 4+ jink save with no penalty to his shooting since he cant shoot. At the same time, I will be in cc by turn 2 using the wings (with fleet allowing me to run farther on turn 1 and re-roll charge range on turn 2, you betcha), so I'll force the enemy to either focus on bringing the Tyrant down, or the Genestealers, who will all infiltrate and also make it into cc by turn 2.
When the Tyrant charges, he will have 5 S7 attacks, which should be enough to bring armor down as well. But in the worse case even the rending claws of the stealers will make this possible.
Tactic of the army? Use cover, use maneuverability, and get in the enemy's face, or use ubiquity of obsec units to hold more objectives than enemy and thus win the game.
