Been searching around this evening but can't seem to find any. I'm looking to make either a scout or PA sniper squad, but I hate that all the models I'm finding are all standing up. I need a few prone models and a few kneeling models that could be holding sniper rifles / standing overwatch. Does anyone make models like this? Or am I just going to have to get into the converting business?

Thanks for the thoughts, guys. I can definitely see power armor being a PITA for laying prone, now that it's pointed out to me. So, maybe a scout squad is more appropriate for what I want to do (at least modeling-wise). How does LOS work for prone models? I would assume it'd be the same as any other model. Just simple line of sight. Right?

I'm thinking what I'm going to do at this point is forego PA entirely. Snipers should be far enough away from most direct action anyway. Plus, the codex only calls for "scout armor" whatever that is. I'm picturing something like modern interceptor armor, so I may go with some modern looking models in flack jackets and add hoods/cloaks. I like the idea of fur cloaks converted into ghili suits.

So, here's what I'm thinking. Scout squad is 5-10 scouts (including one SGT). SGT will have a Flamer instead of shotgun (for close overwatch). Four scouts with sniper rifles. All with camo cloaks. (I'll have to hood them somehow, since all my marines are helmeted in public as per their backstory). Depending on the cost of the game, I might add a 6th scout with a heavy bolter for aditional (slightly more ranged) overwatch. As for the models themselves, I'd like to get all four snipers prone, if possible, and the overwatches kneeling. I have an idea in my head for at least one model using a PA backpack as a shooting platform instead of a bipod. Does anyone know what size base I'd need for a prone model with a sniper rifle stuck out in front? Or what size I HAVE to have for gameplay?

On a side note, the fact that the laze cannon has a longer range than a sniper rifle bothers me. Though AP 6 is nice.

Lol. Sounds like some Space Marine butthurt to me. Darn those camping noobs... I feel as if SMs were really concerned with snipers, they'd stop painting their armor such gaudy colors and get with the camoflage business.

From a more serious combat perspective (and we're way OT now), if you look at the IRL military units with the most kills-rounds fired ratio, bombers aside, snipers have the best stats. I wonder how well an all sniper / air support army would do in a game. Just start the ground units clear back at the edge of the table and fire from there at the advancing army while the air support mops up anything making a run for their lines. By the time they reach close contact, the enemy might be thinned enough for a handfull of overwatches in each unit to clear the table.

Lol. If I could equip an entire squad with laze cannons, I might consider it. But one is not nearly enough. Hence the scout team which can each take a SR for free, SGT excluded (because... reasons?).

Anyone know of any decent looking prone modern/slightly futuristic models? The couple AM models I found are okay, just kinda ugly. Though, under a camo cloak it probably doesn't matter what they look like...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Reading the new BA codex and I have to make some corrections. The sniper rifles now cost 1 point per model, and the SGT can now take whatever the frack he wants from both the ranged and mele weapon list. So, sniper rifles for everyone?
