Hey Dakka, I want to share some thoughts about new Moiras profile.

So you may or may not saw that drastic drop in price of thease ladies, its 8 points less for multi-rifle with shock/ap CCW, 5 to 11 for HMG/ MultiSniper/ E/M lgl and wooping 14 for hacker, even Lt option is 8pts cheaper.

Now unit of 3 nuns with specialist, support weapon and extra body cost 100pts and 2SWC....not bad for ODD, Religious link with Sniper or HMG. Yes they are bit slow with MOV 4-2 but there are other units that go in enemy face so sisters should be fine.
I have but one problem...no BTS value on unit with such background...with hacker profile! I know they have to be bad at something, but it dosnt feel right.

I think Bakunin players will field them much more than ever, do you?

The models are beautiful, I've got the original Reverend More-ass from the starter (who isn't *quite* as fancy) and have long considered buying that box. One thing that held me back was the cost in-game, it would be kind of a wonky list that could take a 5-moira link. Hearing that they've gone down in points may move them back up my shopping list in priority, however.

Lots of hackers don't have a good BTS, that's more for defensive hacking anyway right? Moiras seem to be pretty aggressive so maybe they just don't care.

Add in the fact that you can take the fancy new Reverend Healer(killer) and the link box is even more tempting...

This bodes well also for my desire to, at least sometimes, field an all observance list.

There is no such subject as defensive hacking in new edition. In case of a fail reboot or counter-hack you'll have a BTS - based save to avoid the dire consequences of an info attack. It's something you'd want to avoid, with high WIP and many ways the Nomad can deploy repeaters on the table they shouldn't be doing it anyway.

Lets put it this way OP. When I started Infinity I always wanted to do a Lady of the Bloody Knife force, but could never fit in what I wanted. Now after the new profile cost drop, it will be the first list I run. For now I just have to wait.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Not good. Not good at all.

The only think stopping me from doing a Bakunin list was I could never make one with a full Moira link and the other Observance units I wanted like Sin Eaters.

Now I can? I'm going to need a lot of willpower to not do it.

Reverend Moiras are (Along with remotes in general) are a unit that has gone from no to woah with N3. I always thought they were a little overpriced, now that they aren't, they actually pretty good. ODD is an amazing swing against anything without a visor.

I've taken a HMG Moira out for a spin and in her first game she killed 2 Mormaers (1 HMG, 1 T2) and a Scots Guard ML in my first turn. I also want to try the Sniper as she's basically a TO sniper who isn't paying points for infiltration (or surprise attack, or marker state ) and is ARM 3 to boot. I different kind of reactive piece compared to a Sin-Eater or Reaktion zond, but I'm willing to give her a shot.

It's also worth noticing that Moiras are basically the only unit to still have access to E/M LGLs, which should be really good with the changes to E/M and the removal of shadow zones.

Do note that any MSVisor now sees through ODD so it's not the bullet-immunity from N3.

They're slightly higher-costed than Myrmidons for similar stats, no smoke grenades, slower movement, but higher ARM.
Seems like everything Myrmidons should be if they were to be more shooty. I know comparing units cross-factions is a cardinal sin, but Myrmidons tend to be almost auto-includes in lists at times with many lists running nothing but them. Moiras seem similar in every way, but more ideal for sitting back and shooting. MULTI rifle is also great for sitting back in the inactive turn with a -9 modifier to their BS and a threat of DA ammo in ARO.

Though, at the same time, Myrmidons are also now a lot more fragile for the same reason as Moiras - MSV1 sees right through their main protection. They don't have the same ARM to help protect them.

Also, do they lose their ODD when they go into Frenzy? It says they lose the advantages of Special Skills like CH: Comaflage, CH:TO Comaflage, Holoprojectors, etc when a trooper enters Frenzy state. I'd assume ODD would count if Holoprojector does.

Now that LgL cost resonable points I will take it for a spin some more.

As for remotes....Vertigo(smart missile) Zond cost just 18pt....its so tempting with all those cheaper hackers, remotes ect.
Now with so much troops geting cheaper, SWC is geting more important than ever.

Level 1 Visors don't see entirely through ODD, it just reduces the penalty from -6 to -3, which isn't ideal, but better than losing it completely. MSV1s really did need a boost, so it seems pretty fair to me.

On Myrmidons. I'm pretty sure they don't lose ODD. The fury rules say that Frenzying models lose the advantages of Special Skills. ODD is classified as new equipment and the N3 ruleset is written to be very explicit. It doesn't mention Equipment, so they don't lose it.

Sorry that this seems lazy for me not going to find out myself but does anyone know the Ava for these in n3 for vanilla nomads?

Still AVA 2 in vanilla I believe.

So is the Moira Hacker a good choice now? I really like the model.

They don't outright lose Camo and stuch, they're just downgraded to Mimetism. ODD is a form of super-Mimetism so I don't believe they lose it. It seems that the listed skills and equipment are just manually activated which cannot be performed by Impetuous troops. Passive benefits from Mimetism and ODD should still apply.

True, but Holoprojector is equipment and is listed as one of the equipment that is invalidated by becoming Impetuous. The rules may be explicit, but the "etc" is a bit vague. I still believe the rule just says you can't manually activate Camo, TO Camo, Homoprojector, etc. Mimetism and ODD are passive benefits and should still work.

ODD is not part of the camo skill tree, it's part of the ODD equipment tree (ODD and ODF, but I think ODF is going to die, n-well lost it and he was the only one with it)

There is also Holoprojector in the list and 'etc' meaning it turns off vision impairing Equipment as well, but it vague.

Hmm, we might have to wait for the Human Sphere update pdf. That said, ODD and Mimeteism are both Obligatory pieces of equipment. You can't NOT use them, whereas Camo and Impersonation are both optional.

I'd still say they keep ODD, but we'll probably have to wait for the PDF update.
