At least, I am able to go back to my most favorite & oldest hobby : Miniatures & Models, after almost 10 years of break.

Being french, now living in the province of Québec (near Montréal, Canada), I had to let all my previous models in France, some 5 years ago. Right now, with a decent income , a place wide enough , & a very comprehensive wife, I am able to collect again miniatures.

Having bought the 3 Forge World "Siege of Vrak" & the "Fall of Orpheus", I am just beginning to build a Krieg Korp. Starting with an humble 1000 points Siege Regiment. I have to say that, having not play for 10 years, I advance (very) cautiously ... & a little bit blindly ! :p . Being french, I have a certain "feeling" about trench war (WW I), and all the Krieg Fluff, as depicted in these books fy FW.

I already have read several thread on Dakka about those troops. All very interesting & inspiring, about painting or gathering miniatures for the game. A lot of things to understand and handle : but how entertaining !!! . I will open a thread in a near future (hopefully), about my small detachment, as soon as I will have enough things to show (& questions to ask).

Just to wish you an happy New Year, & say that I have looked on the Galleries of FullMetalJacket & Knightley : How impressive !!!

@ FMJ : Just a question, here ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-viewimage.jsp?i=566446&m=2&w=800 ), I saw a Pzr II or III equipped as a Maccharius Vulcan. Is it (even almost) of a good size ? And which scale (please) ?
For now, I'm just practising on a Siege / Trench Detachment ; that is to say, mainly composed of Infantery & Artillery (following a kind of WW I theme). But I hope to build an assault brigade &/or an armored column. As I really don't like the shape of the Leman Russ MBT, I'm already looking for a replacement. Almost the same thing about other GW/FW Imperial vehicles. Reading this thread ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/120/368718.page ), it appears that SkaerKrow was brillant with a Pzr VI Tiger replacement for Leman Russ, but about others (like the Sup-Heavies), I don't have a clue for yet. So, a lil' help / information would be very (very, very ... ) appreciated .

@ Knightley : Would you be kind enough to say to me where I could find some of your Krieg troops, please ?!? As formerly said, I'm really in search of Inspiration (!).

Anyway, I am almost done with my first squad of KorpsMen. As soon as they are "watchable", I'll post some pictures for comment & advises.

@FMJ : Very kind of you ! As soon as I'll start my Armoured detachment, I'll contact you for more precise informations. It's really interesting what you have done. I have to say that, even if they are great models (FW & GW), I do not really appreciate a lot the "WW I / early WW II" look of most of their vehicle for the IG. However, late WW II are really more appealling to me, and obviously as they were pioneer in mechanized warfare, the german armored vehicles are Kings of the hill (^^) ; at least on a modelling point of view.
Just for fun, FMJ, how many points cost your awesome army ?

For now, I still have to finish my siege regiment (Infantery, Artillery & Fortifications) before going to the big toys :p . In fact that is almost passing from the static WW I trench war to the mechanized WW II.

Anyway, have fun all, & "put the Emperor's light everywhere".

At the moment i should have somewhere around 30000 points, ALor of points lie in armour, but i have around 200 Krieg infantyr, engineers, grenadiers command squads etc. ive recently been ordering alot of models to boost it up to around 40000 points or so i look forward to that, Itll double the amount of grunts i have as well as getting some more titan, air and super heavy support. unfortuatley all my army and supplies are back in california, i wont be able to ship them to the east coast until april hopefully! for now im building the models im ordering haha
If your going for more of a WW2 tank look for DKOK why dont you run a Assualt Korps, Assault korps usually have all the tanks and are used for major offensives for the Krieg operations while Siege regiments main job is the defensive side in the trenches, at the front lines, slowly moving the front line forward, ctightening the noose on the besieged enemy! and supporting the Assualt korps when they make their push.
Ipersonally run the 11th assault Korps, verterans of Vraks, within the 11th assault korps is the 101st Siege regiment, 497th artillery reg., 66th tank reg. ,61st tank regiment, and the 11th tank reg. got rolled into the 11th assault korps after Vraks.
Running the assualt korps gives me a good reason to go out and try to buy like at least 3 of every Imperial guard tank, ( future goal!!) currently i stand at 3 companies of leman russes, i havent numbered them, but firguered ide mix it up from the three Tank regiments in the 11th assault korps.
For your late WW2 two look i could see alot of tigers on the field, that are converted to resemble and play as the macharius tanks, or valdor tank hunters as panthers, and thunderers as stugs, the hummel as basalisk with enclosed crew compartments. thud guns as the neblewerfer, ou can do alot! halftracks as the storm chimera or taurox, if you use the standard astra militarum codex.
You could find someone who plays ice warriors of valhalla and play Stalingrad, Kursk or the battle for Berlin! Ide run Grenadiers with the German SS Camo or the Fallschirmjäger camo! it wold look great! (no offense to anyone ofcoarse, purely for historical purpose with uniform reference)

3) Seriously, I fully agree with you on almost all points 'bout vehicles & support. (Good idea concerning the Nebelwerfer !)
4) About Assault Korp / Brigade, it's my "step 2 goal", but I don't want my wife to be (too soon) afraid. :p. She's kind enough to accept an entire room to be devoted to the hobby (at least "would be" ...), and I still have to find a good group of regular gamers. Other point, I don't have play WH 40k for almost ten years, and I prefer to advance step by step, defensive trench war being a cautious first step.
This wise words said, I'm already looking for a tank compagny (^^).

Last point, I advise you all to look on you-tube to the channel of StrikingScorpion 82. Even if IG is regurlarly beaten (bouhouhou), the battle reports are really entertaining. So between battles & painting cession, I recommand to Watch that : http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-u7aggg_-Q__FjA4_TNSTA .
If some of you know where I can find videos of battle reports with true DKoK (with a such quality), please reply with the link. (remember that being french, I have to avoid too slangish reports in order to understand what is said :p ).
