I... actually don't know. Help?

Say a Space Marine attack force is travelling through the warp in Drop Pods to deepstrike on a CSM-controlled planet, is it possible that these Drop Pods get lost in the Warp, and travel in time, 38000 years back in time, to Terra? It would seem like an awesome plot for an action movie, to have the whole worlds militiaries fight Space Marines.

You don't use drop pods to travel through the Warp.
The plot itself would be so mindboggingly hole-filled either way so I don't get how it would work.
I mean, it's not like modern day weaponry (short of nukes etc) is a threat to them, but conversely, why would they fight us? They are few, and trapped. They'd try to coexist once they realise they can't return... Except they are zealous fanatics who would attack anyway, forcing us to eventually nuke them.

Drop pods themselves cannot travel in the warp, as they do not have Geller fields (what keeps the warp from effing up ships traveling through it). However, an SM ship carrying drop pods, completely possible.
The warp has completely different physics than the normal world, and our perception of time and space doesn't apply there. Time travel is definitely possible, especially if caught in a warp storm. While some might say your story is too much of a special snowflake, it's your story! Do what you want with it, especially since fluff-wise it is possible, although unlikely.

And also, if a modern day weapon is like an autogun, each bullet has a 20% chance of piercing Power Armour. Also, a few Minigun rounds should kill them.

Well, depending on where they land, we'd end up either dead or under their command unless they're of the Khornate variety.
But the one thing they excel at is decapitating governments and leaving the rest of the planet in Chaos. Plus they can assimilate the memories of those they kill, so it's highly likely they could use our own nuclear weapons against us.
But a lot of people would die. Especially in America, where knocking out the power grid would wreak all kinds of havoc.

I never said anything about Chaos occupying... But that would be interesting, if Chaos occupies Terra 38 000 years back in time to assassinate the EMPRAH, so a SM strikeforce is sent through the warp to save Terra...

We would eventually kill Khornate Astartes, Wolves, and Flesh Tearers. If it's Raven Guard or Raptors, GG. They take over the planet and stomp any and all strike forces launched against them, if they can even target them. And if there's a Librarian in their party as well, GG, they win anything.

Why not. We've got plenty anti-armor weaponry in the army. And marine armor makes them akin to medium-armored vehicles. Besides, marines get killed by lazguns from time to time even fluffwise. And lazguns ~ modern assault rifles.
They're not unkillable. And a squad of marines will eventually get surrounded and killed. Now if you get a space ship of marines...still - fluffhammer has scale problems. Stuff like 1000 marines capturing an Earth-sized planet full of inhabitants. The problem here is that current Earth is decentralized. If a bunch of marines drop atop of the HQ of one country and capture it, there are plenty of other countries that are gona get prepared. And even so, the country ain't emidiately captured when you capture the leader as there's such thing as chain of command.

You underestimate the damage that losing the entire top of command can do. Destroy central command and nothing acts in unison, no real ability to coordinate much of anything. Plus just imagine what happens with world stability if the US government just disappears in one explosive event.

There are plenty of other countries at least 5 of which have nuclear weaponry. And many more have ready military force. To accomplish the takeover they need to capture the world simultaniously. As they obviously won't be able to operate effectively when the enemy military is waiting for them.

If you want an empty world, you don't need space marines in the first place. Just nuke the hell out of the planet from orbit. Besides, there's system "pro" - anti rocket defence. And it's not that easy to actually launch the rockets even if you capture the whole HQ. See chain of command.

Legendary Master of the Chapter

I think a group of space marines coming to the 2000s earth would be interesting. Considering that they would either have to learn how to live here, or they go covert and fight a gruella war against the Militaries of the world. Knowing full well that they would outlast any normal human. Meaning they could potentially also recruit people quite quickly. Man that sounds actually like a great pitch for an action film. Super Humans from the future arrive to conquer earth in the name of Earth's future. You could have drama, a 3 act structure and you could construct quite a bit of awesome things. Such as space marines vs United States Seal Team 6. It could be tense with marines facing human opponents that used unconventional tactics. Also fighting and saving people on the street. The Force Commander wondering if he should make peace with the humans and try to prepare them for the future. Or to warn them of the future and probably stop the horus heresy from ever happening! IF they have a frigate that means they have geneseed which means they could survive for thousands of years teaching humanity many interesting things and having the marines basically turn into our version of the singularity event. Or we could have space marines kick ass. And just fight and kill humans. Even though space marines rarely think of the emperor as a god. Only some of them do.

Modern day Earth would win, because our Emperor is still up and about. He would either recognize what the Astartes were through some foresight and prove himself to them, or he would decide they were a threat to humanity and mindblast them.

All things considered, the USA has the largest military period. so they would be the first to fall as the Space Marines set about conquering this planet that thought it was Earth. The other militaries are woefully unequipped for a war of the scale that Space Marines would bring - except for Canada. Canadian Special Forces are badass.
Anyways, on the subject of Space Marines dying. It would be extremely unlikely for an ordinary AP round to pierce SM Armour, as 40k years in the future, weaponry is powerful on a whole new level. If enough firepower is massed onto an Astartes, then his armour's integrity would fail and he would die, but this would be primarily because his armour would simply start to fall apart; similar to a Brotherhood of Steel Paladin in T51b Power Armor falling victim to a platoon of NCR Troopers.
On the subject of the Emperor. I highly doubt that he would be able to divine what would happen 28k years later, and he would probably either mind-blast them with his magic powers, or he would attempt to control them. Considering that at the time he was *only* like 8k years old, he would probably still be semi-human, and he would probably still be playing God's invisible Hand with the world and not want the Astartes to feth it up. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, the Astartes are in SPACE. They would just drop pod and wipe out key resistance locations, and BOOM! chaos across the world. Any nukes that got launched at them would be destroyed with macro-lasers and point-defense turrets or Thunderhawks.

Techincally China has the largest Military.
I thin the emperor could reveal himself and actually learn from them their history and try to actively avoid it. So that way the emperor could possibly avoid the mistakes he made.

The Emperor Can Read minds. I think he would see past it.
It would be more comparable to Steins Gate; where the future Okabe convinced a previous person from the past about the events of the future.

The only thing America has on the infantry level that would kill a space marine is a Javelin missile. The armor is completely immune to slug-throwers, just as an abrams is. But you're welcome to spend a century or two firing constantly with an M4 against its armor.

Nations could suddenly decide on their own what to do? oh how terrible...
Also, the whole prospect of them suddenly coming in and wiping out the whole government of nations... ridiculous. They would have no idea how everything works here, who is in controll etc. Would take years of research because spoiler: Nationleaders are not the actual ones who decide everything.
They can simply kill a political leader and eat his flesh to gain all knowledge of the American political system, how it operates, who the current President is, who the current VP is, etc.
I mean fething really, it gets annoying how many people play 40k yet haven't even arsed themselves to take one look at the Codex or lore of Astartes, Chaos and Loyal. Their various gene-seed organs allow them to do anything from survive in a complete vacuum to rip the memories of those they kill straight out of their minds and assimilate them.

Oh dear god that would be awesome. Also if the united states disappeared the world would fall into an economic depression the one that would make the great depression look like a fun fun party. All the nations in the world's economys depend on the united states. Along with the whole, most corporations and their leaders being in the united states.... Man that would be awkward. SpaceMarines eating the brains of Putin would be kind of funny.

No, what's funny is how when a group of Space Marines once needed to hitch a ride on a Tau flyer, they simply grabbed and air caste pilot and ate 'em. Then there was a group of Iron Warriors who needed to fly an Ork plane, so they grabbed an Ork pilot and ate him as well.
