So I've been looking at some of the new kits (as an aside to thinking about how to build a marine army).
I've come to realise how good the new blood angel tactical box is.
It's £26 and comes with
10 guys
8-10 bolter
Chainsword
Power sword
Combi weapon
Bolt pistol
Storm bolter
Heavy bolter
Plasma pistol
Plasma gun
Melta pistol
Meltagun
Hand flamer
Flamer
Heavy flamer
Grav pistol
Grav gun
Power fist
Is this the best value kit or do you think there is a better one?

The plastic DE kits are great. Warriors, Wyches, Scourges, Pain Engine all give you a ton of stuff. New Wracks look pretty good too but not from a pounds per points perspective.

I agree OP, I think the Blood Angels Tactical kit is pretty damn good for the money. Considering it's only £8 more than 1(!) Sanguinary Priest. The normal Tac Squad too is very good. 25 quid for ten models is pretty good these days.

Also think the devastator one is good.
It has 6 legs,
2 plasma cannons
2 lascannons
2 heavy bolters
Multimelta
Missile launcher
Chainsword
Power fist
Bolter
Plasma pistol
All for £20.50

Any new squad box (since at least the 5e GK stuff) is going to have a silly quantity of stuff in it; that part's been getting much cooler.

Depends what you consider value, I consider low price per model better value than a lot of parts you aren't going to be able to use anyway as those bits inevitably end up on ebay for dirt cheap anyway.

Annihilation Barge is a pretty good value kit in that it comes with a free HQ model, and needs no magnetising whatsoever to switch between it's two configurations.

Recently I bought three for conversions and managed to get the following out of three boxes:

-Three Sentry Pylons.
-Three Tomb Blades,
-Two Lords,
-Three Crypteks,
-Parts used in building two further Crypteks,
-A quad gun emplacement for a Necron themed Aegis Defence Line.
.
..And I still haves few bits left.

Wolf guard cost five dollars less and comes with:

-10 marines

-power sword and axe and fist, wolf claws, storm bolter, plasma gun, thunder hammer, storm shield, all 2x

-a mess of bolt and plasma pistols and bolters

-a million extra bits including pieces to covert wolf scouts

-and the minis can be used as a greater variety of unit types

I usually do an "effective points to cost" assessment with kits to determine their value.

So, a tac box is somewhere between 180 to 220 points, depending on what you want to do with it for $40. Honestly, that's not terrible, whereas the Cadian box is $26 for 55 points, and has very few options, as a comparison.

Some of the best kits are, by this assessment, the Grey Knights kits. Their Terminator kit, as Paladins, can be over 400 points for $50, and the 10 man strike set can get you a long way both as a Grey Knight unit, but also is excellent for making all sorts of Codex: Space Marine units such as Honour Guard, Vanguard Veterans and whatnot with even the most humble of pre-existing bits collections to make them a little less obviously Grey Knight.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Well, to be fair, nobody who is cost-conscious is playing IGuard or Orks, lol. So pricing out value by points cost is a fairly dubious prospect. Ultimately there's still going to be a fixed cost for the products based on the raw materials to make them, and conversely there shouldn't be a significant price premium simply based on point value.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I think Orks may have one of the worst cost/points value on some of their items.

The new mek gunz for instance.

£28 for a 30point model. That's less than a pound per point.

I thought that IG were supposed to be some of the cheaper armies. A tactical squad of 10 SM is £25, and a squad of IG is £18. I guess that an SM tac squad is worth more points, but you can get more IG for cheaper, so there would be more points in total. Also they would have more vehicles that are cheaper than SM. But that's more of a decision about what army you want to collect.

The Burning Chariot of Tzeentch is a pretty good value kit... $50(can) and alongside a single box of Flamers you can get out of it, 1x Tzherald, 1x Exalted Flamer, 1x 'Changebringer' (Flamer riding a disc - excellent for a 'counts as' Plaguedrone), and 3x Blue Horror tokens.
With a box of Screamers, you can also make the 2 Screamers from the Chariot kit as well since each box of Screamers comes with 2 extra tails.

That set is solid bitz box of Tzeentchian goodness for Daemon armies!
