I'm just interested in what is peoples favorite craftworld or if they have crafted their own world?
Please share. Might be inspirational..
This I suppose will be most applicable to the Eldar... but upstart races are more then welcome to comment..
I went for my own custom Craftworld
Nesh-Ravan (children of a million suns) Hence the black and yellow schemes.
Its basically a steelers tribute type deal...
In fact my Eldar are no true craftworld but rather an exodite colony that only just discovered they were not alone in the galaxy and they were not the only ones to have survived the EOT apocalypse.
As such they can field many guardians and psychics as they have flourished on their planet and colonized local systems. However no matter what they do, she who thirst is always there. Always in the shadow.
They have just re-launched their craft-world again after millenia of laying dormant and they have a mission. They are in search of the black library and the solitaire... They are after one thing only: information.
Like all other eldar, slowly drifting through time, a doomed people. Then A vessel as old as the Eldar which should no longer have existed in the galaxy crashed into their world. The dying Eldar pilots last action Before dying was to pass on fleeting dream vision: A light of hope barely visible shining through the void...The seers consulted and mediated and came to a conclusion its a sign. Rumors and legends have it that there is a way to leave the galaxy and follow in the footsteps of the old ones. A new start. Free from shadow.
Revived with a new purpose, they will unite and lead their people to freedom at any and all costs.
So basically they just cruise around smashing armies taking what they can, pirating anything that comes their way drifting through the stars looking for clues and artifacts and in the meantime expanding their empire keeping the momentum going.

When I started Eldar, back in 5th edition, I would generally field whatever. No set Craftworld.
Since the release of the 6th edition codex...I've gravitated towards Ulthwe (although my Eldar still are not painted).
Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.
Gozer the Gozerian, Gozer the Destructor, Volguus Zildrohar, Gozer the Traveler, and Lord of the Sebouillia
My Craftworld's lore has gone through a few rewrites, and the name's not settled, but they got caught out by a Chaos battlefleet after their Webway connection got broken into by Daemons and the Craftworld itself was destroyed, the survivors have taken up residence on a remote Maiden World and operate a much smaller/more surgical army than before. With their situation so dire the lines between some of the Paths have become more blurred than is healthy, and they field primarily Aspects and vehicles (paint scheme is blue and silver with red gems).
I love all the Craftworlds, but if I had to choose one more think id choose Biel-Tan. Aspect Warriors simply fascinate me so its only natural I gravitate towards them. That being said I wish they (and by extension all Eldar) got along with the imperium better. But that's a whole other conversation.
I do however run my own Craftworld too, Shelwe Slavanhreeur which if lexicanum is correct translates to song of destiny. They've drifted into a new segmentum and established strong ties with long lost exodite colonies. Seeing the younger races move into the segmentum has forced the Craftworld into several wars to protect the exodite worlds I need to fill in alot of their fluff but it is fun making a craftworld of your own design. Mine works alot like Biel Tan in military fashion, but they are on fairly good terms with the imperial space marine renegades known as the Black Talon and the humans under their protection. Of course the only reason they're on good terms at the moment is because the Chaos Champion Merek Ceren is creating a new Chaos empire in the heart of the Segmentum (which my league has yet to name) the politics in my group means constantly shifting wars and alliances so my eldar are somewhat typical in manipulating other races, specifically the rising Ork Population coming to fight the Blak skinz chaos orks under Merek Cerens control.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Lol sorry for rambling but I do love custom fluff

I'll give you the short version of my Craftworld :p
(Yeah this is the short version xD I do enjoy my writing :p)
Craftworld Yllyyth, The light in the darkness.
Spoiler:
After the Fall, the people of Yllyyth became lost within their own sorrow, drifting into the dead realm of space known as the Halo Stars. For millennia they perfected the Paths of the Seer, Artisan and Bonesinger, but left neglected the Paths of the Warrior and the Pilot.
The Craftworld fell to the leadership of a council known as The Silent Seers, who saw the future but did not speak of it, and even the most ambitious of the young Eldar scarcely left as an outcast, for in the deep regions of the Halo Stars, nothing but silence awaited them.
However, even in the silence beyond the galaxy, there was no safety from threats that swelled within.
A warp-jump gone wrong resulted in the Eternal Vigil Strike cruiser of the Death Spectres Space Marine chapter coming into close proximity to the Craftworld. Yllyyth had no standing army, its only defence being a handful of Seers who had come to accept their fate.
Dozens of Drop-Pods barraged into the surface of the Craftworld and citizens were slaughtered in the name of the Emperor. Even the Avatar of Khaine had grown so cold that he could not be stirred to life amongst the carnage and the pleas of the Eldar. The infinity circuit swelled before the Eldar put up a ramshackle defence, using skilled Bonesingers to ensnare the foe with wraithbone brambles, whilst those few Farseers who had not lost hope let eldritch lightning fall from the sky. But this only spurred on the determination of the Marines.
Until the long-dormant webway portal blazed to life and the Craftworld ignited in hope as one of the Farseers of the revered Black Council strode into the carnage, accompanied by a chorus of Howling Bansees, Fire Dragons, Warp Spiders and Dark Reapers. She was followed by dozens of war-machines from the Lugganath Craftworld and a troupe of dancing harlequins, who swiftly put up an astonishing counter attack against the Marines who had grown complacent fighting against the unarmed Eldar.
At the same time a host from Commorragh erputed from several smaller webway ports across the Craftworld, circling up to the Strike Cruiser and disabling the ships weapons with pinpoint strikes from their haywire weaponry, before bording parties of Wyches and Kabalite Warriors massacred the crew and strung the survivors up in chains, dragging them back to their Dark City, not before uttering that the Kabal of the Septic Kiss would claim payment one day.
Spoiler:
With help from the people of Lugganath, Yllyyth gained its own aspect shrines of the Howling Bansees, Fire Dragons, Warp Spiders and Dark Reapers, along with arms, armour, and hope. With Seer Esperia leading them, only good fortune was bound for their future.
Following the teachings of Lugganath, they utilised and protected the webway as their sacred realm, and due to the actions of the Kabal of the Exquisite Hex, they looked upon their Dark Kin with a bizarre sense of thanks.
Moving into the more populated areas of the galaxy, Esperia put the efforts of Yllyyth towards protecting the Eldar and thwarting Chaos at every turn, even going as far as to arrive to aid Space Marine chapters against the minions of Slaanesh and the Thousand Sons of Ahriman, but exacting just vengeance when Space Marine chapters threatened Exodite worlds.
But for all her power, her life was fading, and Esperia took two of the most talented seers of Yllyyth under her wing in order to keep the Craftworld strong, as she felt her own calling to the Dome of Crystal seers.
Hyll-Kaithe was a bold and respected Seer, well-known throughout the Craftworld for her noticeable deeds. Previously traveling on the path of the Howling Banshee before she descended onto the path of the Seer. She was young and had incredible ambition to see the Eldar flourish in the galaxy, taking their rightful place as rulers.
Lev-Yaen was quite the opposite, an incredibly gifted bonesinger at a young age; he left the Craftworld as an outcast for years, returning with a new sense and scope of the galaxy. Though several spoke against it, including Hyll-Kaithe, he became a Seer soon after returning. Yet his ideology that the Eldar dead should bolster the ranks of the Craftworld at all times, rather than just war, disturbed most. In truth, the Eldar of Yllyyth preferred to leave the dead to rest and let the living fight. Even Esperia had doubts about her choice of successor, and began to favour Hyll-Kaithe more with each passing council.
And finally, when fending off the invasion of an Excodite world by the a force of Grey Knights, Esperia was slain.
And from then on the Craftworld became a splintered force, split into clear-cut factions that supported either Hyll-Kaithe or Lev-Yaen. Their plight was so great in fact that Esperia could not simply rest in the infinity circuit and listen to her cherished Craftworld become a hollow wreck, and so she communicated with Lev-Yaen, the most accomplished of the Spiritseers, and instructed him to place her soul within a Wraithseer so that she could continue to guide the people of Yllyyth.
Spoiler:
And now she stands eternal vigil, providing a figure for the citizens of Yllyyth to look to, to guide them into another era of greatness. Her wishes saw that Hyll-Kaithe and Lev-Yaen would pledge a blood-bond to each other in front of the entire Craftworld, where they would drink the others blood and be bound as Brother and Sister, and joint rulers of the Craftworld. But truly the ballence of power is in continuous flux, and some say this is not due to either leader at all. For now that a long overdue debt has been honoured, and the Seventh Son of the Kabal of the Septic Kiss has adopted a semi-permanent residence within the Craftworld, forming the Kabal of the Seventh Kiss, a youthful Archon whose charisma and charm make even the most scornful of Yllyyth view him as a friend.
But whispers from the Seers of other craftworlds speculate that Yllyyth is little more than a fragment of the Dark City, with rival factions all begging for power, whilst others believe that this is the next step on the journey of the Eldar, as some of the Dark Kin have already stepped upon the path of the Warrior, and even been laid to rest within the infinity circuit.
But what Lev-Yaen does not disclose, is that these souls are so viciously twisted, that they must be kept separate from the others, usually being placed in an eternal life within a Wraithblade. The most ferocious of these are the souls of deceased incubi, which the young Seer covets, for even in death their loyalty is absolute, and they form a ferocious bodyguard armed with the most sinister ghost axes and powerful force shields.
And somehow, nobody has questioned the manner in which they seek to kill their foe with only the most gruesome of wounds, and the corpses surrounding them in battle are more heavily mutilated than any other.
In fact, none can deny that the union has granted nothing but awe for the craftworld, for when a warhost descends in Yellow and Brown, many know that running is the best hope, for soon enough the Kabal of the Seventh Kiss will erupt into the prey, exacting more savagery than any other. For the Craftworld calms their souls for a time, but they feast with utter glee and savagery upon the battlefield, never knowing for sure when their next meal will come
Yeah I enjoy a bit of fluff xD It coincides with my Dark Eldar Kabal of the Seventh Kiss
Essentially Hyll-Kaithe and Lev-Yaen work in an unsteady unison to rule the Craftworld, whilst Archon Lysandryx and his Kabal fight for them and provide them with technologies of Commorragh.
I sometimes wonder about creating special rules for them, but It would be a lot of effort convincing people to let me use them :(
Love to know what you think
@Argive I love your Craftworld by the way!!! I think in GW fluff a lot of the Craftworlds seem content with being as they are, so it's refreshing to see some who want a change! You've got a great paint scheme too so I look forward to getting updates as you paint more
@TWilkins - Very nice fluff man! Love the units background and the story-line.
It's work in progress for my guys. Haven't really got any characters yet.. and have not had a lot of time to develop my narrative. I've only been collecting eldar for about a month so lore wise there's some catching up to do. Ill get some old codexes next time I see a steal on ebay
@Redseer where is this "lexicanum" you speak of? The Children of a Million suns demand knowledge!!!
In the hopefully not too far future (maybe next year) I will be most likely starting a space marine or tau army so will need to plan my fluff around that from the start
AngryAngel80 wrote: I don't know, when I see awesome rules, I'm like " Baby, your rules looking so fine. Maybe I gotta add you to my first strike battalion eh ? "
Damn boy! How can you afford to collect a different army in a year xD
If you ever want help with narrative or whatever then I'm happy to listen to your ideas and stuff. Just drop me a PM whenever
One word: Ebay... Got 2x farseers for 99p each (some conversion needed)
The most expansive part of my start up so far have been the paints/brushes/tools
Plus I do not drink smoke or do drugs anymore..
I was going to start a WHFB HE army.. (just got 5 oop phoenix guards) But there seems to be a lot of rumors flying around regarding the future so I'm going to hold on for now.. :S
There might be no more HE/DE/WD faction just Elf faction.. and basically a whfb spacemarines equivalent... Which frankly will mean I will no longer consider.

Eh, why would GW do that?
I dunno, I don't think they are dumb enough to just outrule three armies and make one. After all they want money right? And that'll just loose them players surely?
I never understand how people can afford drugs and smoking xD I don't do any of that, and I don't drink much at all, and somehow I'm still broke!
I guess that's probably the side effect of warhammer... :p
And awesome that you're from the UK!!! Whoop Whoop
AngryAngel80 wrote: I don't know, when I see awesome rules, I'm like " Baby, your rules looking so fine. Maybe I gotta add you to my first strike battalion eh ? "
YES!!! DO THAT.
Nothing is worse than getting a big load of models and then not getting around to painting them xD
I've got:
5 wraithguard
4 wraithblades
3 war walkers
10 warp spiders
5 dark reapers
and 10 guardian defenders that are all unpainted And make sure you paint the banshee's up really well so you can display them somewhere good until they gain a purpose (I hate that they are next to useless, Acrobatic should allow them to like run and assault or something so they weren't practically useless)
AngryAngel80 wrote: I don't know, when I see awesome rules, I'm like " Baby, your rules looking so fine. Maybe I gotta add you to my first strike battalion eh ? "
Unfortunately I've tried the same tactic... :( People go "Ooh howling banshee's 4+ armour save you say? Mulch" and then they die and your opponent gets a kill point.
They might be more effective in conjunction with Jain Zar. They run an extra 4 inches per turn and battle focus is acceptable with her AP2 triskele. Plus with 2+ armour she can hold her own against bullets and look out sir against AP2.
I used to use this back in 5th when Banshee's made a mess of anything with armour. I remember back in a game against Tau that Jain Zar was one of my only models left on the board and she won me the game after slaughtering 3 broadsides and consolidating 6" onto an objective xD
there is one thing special about my craft world. it is dead.
only one single spiritseer lives in the spirit dome of ven-tell. eery other eldar in the craft world was killed by the tyranids. now the spiritseer lives only to protect the infinity cercuit. but the dead souls of ven-tell stand with him. ghostly raithes, the guadians of ven-tell defend it's hlls from all threats. aided by the great wraith-automota.

When I had Eldar allies for my Grey Knights, I looked through the codex looking for a Craftworld that would be the most likely to ally with Grey Knights so I could create some fluff for why they were working with each other. At the time, it was still 6th edition and as Grey Knights we only had Allies of Convenience and no Battle Brothers so I wanted something different than just more power armor so I went with Eldar.
I originally wanted to do Il-Kaithe because they would make the most sense since Il-Kaithe were well known for their hatred of Chaos and will even ally with humans if it means the destruction of Chaos. I just didn't like their colors really so I kept looking.
My favorite Craftworld is definitely Ulthwe and I was wanting them for my allies because I really like psykers...of any kind and they are the strongest Craftworld when it comes to Psykers. So, I combined existing fluff with my own fluff and created a purity sect of Ulthwe. A radical Farseer who was wanting to prove Ulthwe's purity and their commitment to the destruction of Chaos despite being located so close to the Eye of Terror so she created a Purity Sect of Ulthwe dedicated to this cause and to distinguish themselves they are black and silver instead of the black and bone. Even the Fire Dragons that were in my force were the Fire Dragons of the Silver Flame shrine and their colors were red and silver. The silver was to tie them in with my Grey Knights to have a uniformity in my army.
That was until 7th came out and I got proper battle brothers where I promptly took up Imperial Fist allies instead.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Eldar_Lexicon Right here my friend. I hope it helps. My friends and I are using it to craft our own stories outside of the main galaxy. This makes things so much easier

The existing "big-5" can seem pretty one dimensional. I like certain facets of them but wouldn't pick one specifically because of what i want to paint and my army composition.
Im all for crafting your own. The Eldar lore is full of loss and isolation but also recontact like Altansar or Mymeara. Thats the basis for my craftworld. Finding a heavily damaged/derelict craftworld and a faction of seers leaving Biel-tan.
"The serpents is supposed to know all secrets"... My Eldar have set of to sail the stars in search of the serpent Deity they now worship as he has the answers..and salvation..
New theme Im going to incorporate: Before they kill anyone my Eldar ask one question to their downed opponents "Do you know where the serpent is?" If they answer anything other then "yes" they get "removed" out of our way
Cannot seem to find any runes for "serpent" or that sentence..
I need to see if I can find my old HE war book I cans teal some of their alphabet..

I don't consider the Eldars, as a species, to be dying. I consider them to be "culturally dying", seeing how few of them even bother to reunite their people or resurrect their once glorious empire anymore: amongst the few is Iyanden, and Biel-tan another. I'm not implying none of the smaller craftworlds have such ambitions, but the Craftworld Eldars are, for the most part, becoming more and more secluded, isolated from one another, and from what I heard, that their entire culture are rather pessimistic and are a bit too obsessed with death.
And you have the exodites, who are too Amish and naturalistic in the 41st Millennium for their own good. They are pretty dependent on their Craftworld kins for protection, and that protection is not always there.
And most of these Eldar societies walk on their own path, there are occasional alliances, but it seems most of them are very short lived. Iyanden managed to get a couple long-standing allies, which was a already an exceptional event for the Craftworld Eldars. The rest are mostly living in their own bubbles.
Although there is the Slaanesh being all hungry on Eldar souls, and spirit stones are in short supply thing; this aspect of "dying" does not depend on how many Eldars are out there. For all we know, there could be thousands of craftworlds, each housing many millions. And every one of these eldars fearing for their lives.
A craftworld can be isolated from the outside world because it's inside a warp storm (a presumably they can warp jump and just slowly "sails" in space -- wasn't there stories about how craftworlds get caught by nid' tendrils because they can outrun them?), or actively hiding from other civilizations with Eldric foresight. You don't know, there could be one hiding in the Sol system, or failing that, Segmentum Solar in the current settings!

AFAIK Eldar use the webway portals as apposed to warp travel. I think they view warp travel as primitive. They got caught by nids because they were recharging their solar sails and were too far from the nearest portal to make a an escape as their "normal" travel speed is probably like comparing a sailing boat with a motor boat.
Very interesting views. But if you take this line of thought then every race in the 40k universe is "culturaly dying" because we view them, thanks to the setting, in the now. IOM is kind of regressing in my view
