Ok, I thought it was something like that. I really couldn't tell from the original email.
Personally, I think that's better. As long as the wheels line up, I'd rather have the fender well sections flush with the hull in the front. Since the GW model has a staggered hull, the fender areas should be different lengths to compensate. Having never owned a chimera, I didn't know that the front was staggered, but now it all makes sense.

I tend to agree as well. I had not heard any issues with the few who had the kit early on and assembled it (that picture is from the 1st actual buyer who had it a month before pre-release). To each-their own I guess.

Lovely I'm sure, but the slots you've cut into the side of the pieces doesn't allow that sort of fit. I suppose I could take a Dremel to it and make it work that way. But the parts I have do NOT fit like your photo.

I recieved my two Chimera kits and having bought my fair share of Forgeworld items CHS stuff is top notch. No warped pieces, no misaligned molds, minimal flashing, no oily mold release gunk and everything fit without greenstuff.
The chimera wheel kit itself is nice, physically fits well and keeps with the 'grimdark' feel that we all know and love.
I would say though that to keep it from sticking out too much in your army you should probably dress up the sides with some Aqulias, stowage and other misc bits.
One suggestion to any would be builders and its hard to explain... If you look from the side without the treads on you should see a vertical support in the middle. (on the picture above its the vertical support behind the circular hatch) I would shave that in on the sides about a 1/4" so when you put the wheeled sides on you you can better adjust them and level them as my supports on the plastic model where not straight.

Sadly I dont have any kits on hand to see what you are talking about, I know I had the cuts done and on one side there was a different channel to fit the model in.
Regardless if you wish to return the kits for a refund you are welcome to do so.

I don't have mine in front of me but I think mine sit a bit more flush than that picture. I may rip them off and dremel them down a bit and that super flush one in the photo looks snazzy.

I cant speak for that photo, but I know my goal was to have the rears line up (Since that determined the wheel locations). Nothing in this hobby is static. I know for a fact that 30 seconds with a dremel will modify those channels however you want

I'm going to give the Dremel a go this evening. But I expected the kit to fit as shown without me having to chop and grind and fight as if it were from FW.
I suppose I should just get over myself and be happy that I've finally got a wheeled Chimera.

Well they DO fit like on the picture above, however if you want them to be flush you need about 15min with the routing dremel bit to grind down the guides on the inside of the piece. Still happy over here and will buy more when I can be bothered to get more chimeras.

Interesting that you choose to use the photo that doesn't show the parts fitted into the hull side slots provided by CHS.
You will notice that in this shot that I put the model together using the guides provided. And it doesn't fit. That makes me the joke? Or you the __________ (insert favorite word for numbskull here).

As a Xeno player, I never build a Chimera, but checking the GW website for sprue pics, the solution for your problem is to not insert the floor part that you already glued on. Then use the pins of the CHS side parts to fit the parts into the right position as seen in the photo.
I learned from the tervigon conversion kit that CHS kits can be tricky to put together.

If I could make a request (as I have yet to see this available on any other websites) - I know I would buy several sets of poseable arms and legs for battlesuits that could be used for the greater good.
Yes, I know the FW versions have posable legs, but i'd rather attach poseable legs to the existing torso, feet, heads, weapons etc and I can't justify buying full resin battlesuits from FW just to use a couple of parts.
I can't be the only Tau player annoyed by the one position arms and legs?

Come on, everyone be civil here. And to be fair, it does fit fine. I cut the grooves so that the back door is flush with our kit. It does not fit how some of our customers modeled it for themselves.

Its possible, but having poseable pieces in resin is asking for trouble IMO. Resin breaks easier then plastic in my experience. Shoot me an email if you have some further specifics on what you are thinking about.

What this may indicate, then, is that Nick might want to spend a little time on some better-than- FW instruction sheets for his trickier kits?
The wheeled Chimera and Tervigon have been mentioned - would any of the other sets benefit?

Sort of. I Had to do a lot of removal work across the bottom to get the hull plate to fit and ended up having to cut away the vertical support on the Chimera's upper glacis part as the amount of resin dust was getting excessive. Measure twice to cut once is something I probably need tattooed on the inside of my eye lids. It's still not a perfect fit, but it's looking pretty good.
