Looks awesome, if we don't see a post from you for a while we will know NOT to try this ourselves . I've seen a few others do this on YouTube though.

Interesting to see how this performs.
I've yet to use the static grass I bought and only saw that these things exist as I was looking for the grass.
I decided to start with a simple plastic bottle for application, but will have to see how things work out.

This looks kind of like Mad science? I'll be interested to see the difference between using bug zappers and just gluing the stuff on.

Sooooo.. postman was busy this week...

2mm, 4mm & 6mm static grass; 36" of greenstuff; airbrush cleaner; 25x 5amp crocodile clips, thousands of tiny beads (for use as rivets...)...

However, they wont be seeing any use this week as I'm heading off to Alton Towers for some fun on rollercoasters

Bigger news though... NECROMUNDA IS COMING BACK

Follow the news and updates on Dakka here, official release here - I think this release may hurt my wallet!!

Been back a while but no time to do any hobby work sadly... Had a great time on the rollercoasters though and stopped by Warwick Castle on the return journey, well worth a visit
Spoiler:

Non-hobby related news, picked up my new car today - traded in my three yr old red Mazda 6 Saloon for a new red Mazda 6 Tourer
Spoiler:

Hopefully some hobby related updates though in the next day or two - gotta go work out the SatNav and multimedia system in the Mazda first

Supply drop update...

Scored a load of stickabe rhinestones a supply of emery boards from the Pound shop.

Also purchased a big set of drillbits as most of mine have broken.. Think there's around 150 of various sizes in this set...

With the imminent release of New Necromunda (Newcromunda?), I remembered and old printer stashed in the garage and the remains of a multi-disk CD player - So I spent an hour dismantling and result is loads of great looking plastic shapes, cogs, springs and various electronic components. I can see gantrys, walkways and various barriers forming from this little lot

Neocromunda or Novucromunda?

Who knew that an old printer case was really a treasure chest? ( A lot of us, methinks )

So, you needed a car that drives faster? I approve.

Interesting to see them called crocodile clamps. We all them alligator clamps. Whatever one calls them, they are very useful.

I've wondered how to backlight the rhinestones. They make such fine looking light fixtures. Maybe one of those LED strips?

Salvage man strikes again . I just dropped off a bunch of old printers, tvs, and other electronics at a recycling event a couple weeks back . Right before they announced Necromundas return.

Now there's an interesting idea... Although I got them for easy rivets. Yeah, the inside of a printer is like archeotech to a ganger...

Oh and as we all know... 'Da red wunz go fasta!'

Isn't that always the way though. The printer has been in my garage for about 5 years and only last summer I nearly took it to the local recycling centre but something held me back...

There's gold in them there hills scrap printers. I've actually spent the evening clearing my workspace and thinking up new projects, although I did also look over some of the 'boxes of shame' for some inspiration, so you never know...

Watching Bladerunner now, for some Necromunda type terrain inspiration...

I went to the Dollar Store with "She who must be obeyed aka The Boss" one day and saw a set of emery boards with different sizes and bought it after I bought my $10 worth of candy.... and I swear by them they are by far the best rough sanding sticks I have ever used. I love finding modeling supplies in the weirdest of stores and places.

Like an Aladdin's cave in those shops

Mucked about a bit with the plastic 5 CD loading tray, and some old pipes and fittings for a multi-level piece of terrain that also gives ample opportunity for cover. I'll have some pipes in each of the CD spinner gaps, will then have them connected up to a central tank - thinking about using something like a large Christmas tree bauble for the tank. A quick mock up (minus the bauble, as I need to find one still...)

The platform will be approx 4-5" from the ground, although may cut that down to get the classic 3" bulkhead size. I'll also look to level of the plastic CD tray with some aluminium or plastic mesh to create walkways.

Set up looks cool , but if you had small enough diameter pipe that fit the center of CDs then I'd say mount CDs on the holder and have the pipes go through them so you'd have more play area. But if it's a manufacturing/pump station then it shouldn't have lots of moving space. Just depends on how you are invisioning the final product.

Going for the larger diameter pipe, as that's what I've got in the garage !! Have some ideas for the walkways, just need to work out if I have the materials at hand to make them...

On to the central storage tank - 18 pieces of cardboard cut to 92mm diameter, with two discs of thick board cut the same size - all stuck with double sided tape. Then using two milkshake cup tops on the ends which pop nicely over the thick board ends.

I'll clean this up by wrapping thin card around the cardboard and will also and then plug the ends of the cup tops with a connection on one end to fit the pipe fro the platform (hopefully that all makes sense...)

Supply drop

AVP Kickstarter fullfilled finally!! Can now draw a close to this whole saga and forget about Prodos / Archon / Whoever...

Cloaked preds - looks like I've got all three here although ridiculous amount of parts and I'm thinking it'll be difficult to glue these without fogging the 'clear' plastic !! Disappointing considering what the prototypes looked like, but hey ho...

Facehuggers, I quite like these even though they are incorparted into the base. Oh and note that the delivery note is from 'Archon' and not Prodos...

Dude, Testors makes a magic plastic glue for clear parts. It looks like it would be appropriate here. Nice bitz and new tools!

Interesting progress on the terrain, look forward to more.

Something I've seen for avoiding fogging on clear parts is to use a clear varnish on the parts first (removed from contact surfaces obviously), such as Future / Klear. Can't say how well it works though, I've not personally had much luck with clear varnish and clear parts.

But yes, there are glues available for the job.

And another month passes us by...

Spent the last few weeks renovating my kitchen so hobby time has been non-existent

Today though I managed to sneak some time in to continue with the terrain build

Cut a circular base from hardboard and sized slightly larger than the main platform

Mdf cut to shape and 2 pieces stuck together to make 5 blocks - the outer pipes will stand in these blocks

A few mock ups withan old' black reach' marine for scale...

Still very WIP - may cut the plastic pipes down by an inch or two so that they are blocking out the tank thing in the centre

Cool design you have going. I like how the base pieces follow the CD tray shape. Looking forward to more.

Small update, been detailing / cladding the mdf pieces that the pipes sit in. This is just using cereal box card.

Also started to clad the pipes with thin card (not cereal box)

And that's it for this week - will be away on business all next week, but hopefully will get to do more cladding next weekend...

Change of pace, had a game of X-wing (without any x-wings) - I played the rebels and had Ghost plus a B-wing and A-wing. versus Imperials ( 3 Ties , 1 Tie Striker). Good fun game, i got caught up in blasting tie fighters to smithereens and temporarily forgot my mission objective (get an escape pod of the board)... Managed to recover though and get back on track with a narrow victory.
