I have long had a love for light, fast vehicles that can hit hard but are vulnerable to most things that can hit them. This manifested itself over a recent modeling binge when I ended up with two of the vehicles in question.

As for the current rules this is what I've come up with right now, I might make a ambulance or something else later

Light Truck Rules

Almost every world that has the ability to produce tires and small engines produces a number of these vehicles. Needless to say a large number of them are not sanctioned designs but as they fill essential roles and are so widespread the Mechanicus has given up trying to enforce all but the most heretical of designs. Even though they are primarily civilian vehicles they often find themselves pressed into service as ambulances, transports and even assault vehicles.

Even though the designs differ they all can carry five men, pull a trailer, mount a heavy weapon and outrun almost any other Imperial military ground vehicle.

Points: 25

Type: vehicle, fast

BS: 3 F/S/R: 9 HP: 2

Special Rules: Open Topped, Off Roader*

*Off Roader: A model with this rule may reroll failed dangerous terrain tests.

Upgrades:

May take a heavy bolter or autocannon for 10 points
May take a missile launcher for 15 points
May take lascannon for 20 points

If none of the above options is selected you may take one of the following:
Ambulance (all units within 12” receive Feel No Pain 5+) 25 points
Coms Gear (any model with the Voice of Command rule within 6” doubles the effective range of orders) 25 points

May take a passenger with a lasgun or shotgun for 1 point
May replace the passenger’s weapon with a grenade launcher (5points), meltagun (10points) or plasma gun (15points)

Consider looking up the rules for the Tauros (not Taurox, Tauros)? I believe Imperial Armour 4 2nd edition is the most current source.

They're AV10 all round and always have guns, but they're pretty close to what you're looking for (right down to their 4+ save against anything that would immobilize them).

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

I'd say boost it to AV10 and 2HP, give it the option for Multi-Lasers and Hunter-Killers, and change the rules for the Ambulance upgrade: FNP for all units within 12" is a bit too much, perhaps to a single unit within 6" each turn would be more appropriate.

Also, I'd change the way it's included into the FOC, perhaps allow a free single Truck for every Infantry Platoon, or something along those lines.

The model looks pretty cool. However, the main drawback I see is that it fills the exact same niche as the Sentinel (specifically Scout Sentinels) except it's faster and cheaper (thereby better all around). Both are essentially mobile, heavy weapons platforms in vehicle form. So, the only advice I can give is to make sure that the Truck is able to do something that Sentinels can't and vice versa. The additional options of taking Ambulance or Comm Gear is probably in the right direction.

Perhaps give it a specific, but significant, drawback such as the follows:

Tech Heresy:
The vehicle may not receive the Blessings of the Omnissiah or benefit from the Power of the Machine Spirit special rule.

50 points for a unit that grants 12" of FNP?

As a DA player I'm insulted, I pay 85 on top of the base 100 for the squad that carries it

I do like the models themselves, and it's a good idea (if you heavily nerf that FNP bit). If you brought them to the table I'd happily let you run them.

Wow, lots of input, thank you folks, now to reply to you all.

First of all I had planned on making an AV10 version but I was thinking of making that an upgrade on the base model, to represent armored cars and similar vehicles.

I had a feeling the ambulance rules where a little broken, and yes for that price 1 unit within 6" makes more sense.

Tech Heresy? I love it, you sir are brilliant, I shall use this if that is alright with you

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.
