Ok, so my group has been having issues with some of the rules(as does everyone im sure). I was wondering what House rules a lot of you guys use to not make certain units/ powers Cheesy.(invisibility, knights, etc.)
This is just for a friendly environment, nothing too competitive.

"Don't be an ass." generally covers everything.
It tells our friends/group that we are playing for fun; fun for everyone.

This rule exactly.
In our Apoc games we did however make some alterations to both Invisibility and D weapons... but otherwise rules as is.

"Don't be an ass" coupled with "No mulligans once the phase in question ends except when it's to your detriment". We all agreed that we'd like to improve our memory and rules knowledge so we force ourselves to deal with forgetting to shoot/run/etc but always go back and make rolls for things like soul blaze when it's on our unit.
For specific rules, we tend towards RAI. If there's less room for debate and it's a crucial moment we do RAW.

We redraw Malestrom objectives that are completely unachievable based on both armies. For example, if you get kill a psyker, and your opponent included none, redraw.
That's our only house rule.
|
"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

"Sorry sir, I didn't catch that..." Player may discard any impossible Objectives and redraw.
"Rule of Hand" Ruins extend a full hand past the model because I'm lazy and never based any so it only fits three models... And since I mostly play Tyranids and cover is Venomthropes and Hormagaunts that both come with me, makes it fair when my opponent wants to castle up his Cultists or something.
I know there's more...
Oh I remember. "Let's just move on" If we forget a rule or Trait we ignore the situation and move on because EVERY time we took the time to go back and correct the mistake, the result was exactly the same. We could add 14 more attacks to a combat we forgot and the result would be exactly the same. It's really ridiculous at this point. Even forgetting a Psyker power and then rolling Hallucination on Telepathy. Yeah, cause I'd use that...
"Announce D3 Numbers" Since I use 1-4=1 2-5=2 3-6=3 since I've been doing that since I started 40k and it's easier for me. My friends use the new way so a preroll announcement saves trouble when we play others no matter what.

Just in the few I've played, the odd edit to speed things up or any cover save questions normally favour the one being shot at.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |
