So just played my first game using the QuickStart rules and loved it and was curious what kind of forces people have. I figured why not ask.

So what did you use the last time you played. If you wouldn't mind saying what point level the game was too in would appreciate it.

Decimator (Admiral Cherios) w/ Determination, Mara Jade, Darth Vader.
TIE- Interceptor (Carnor Jax) w/ Push The Limit (PTL)
TIE- Fighter (Howlrunner)

Howl gives the other 2 ships a reroll of 1 miss.
Cherios turns a Focus into a Crit.
Carnor keeps your opponent from using Focus or Evade (PTL lets him dodge arcs and still get in a firing position)

Determination lets you discard(!) PILOT Crits (that's about 1/4 of the deck...it has kept that ship alive on several occasions). Jade give out stress like Teenagers at the prom. Darth I reserve for when the Deci gets someone down to 1 hull, then I kill them off before they get to shoot back.

We're gearing up for the Decimator episode of Kessel Run, so I've been flying the Death Pizza.

Oicunn w/ Determination, Anti-Pursuit Lasers, Mara Jade
Soontir Fel w/ Push the Limit, Royal Guard Title, Hull Upgrade, Targeting Computer
Backstabber

Oicunn smashes into things while Fel and Stabby flank and pick stuff apart. It was tricky to figure out how to fly Oicunn when I'm so used to dodging contact, but pretty fun to just smash into stuff.

Dash hurts the stuff that can out-PS Corran and supplies consistent damage, Corran murders anything he gets a good shot on with focus + evade + shield regen every turn to keep him alive forever. Last game was against double decimators, Corran died way too early to a roll of all blanks against 4 hits, but did enough damage first to allow Dash to finish the job.

- Wes Janson X-Wing w/ Veteran Instincts, R3-A2
- Biggs Darklighter X-Wing w/ R4-D6

Wes shoots first and strips focus or evade (whichever applies). R3-A2 allow Wes to stress on command (see Phantoms and ACD).
Farlander uses Opportunist, receives a Stress token, shoots 5 dice at all ranges (often with Target Lock), uses Stress token to Focus.
Biggs draws fire away from the others....nothing else. Maybe shoot at targets of opportunity.

I was giving a tutorial game and i had literally 5 minutes to pick a squad, so i picked imperials as i never use them.

So i took Soontir Fel, PTL, Hull, Stealth and Royal Guard.
Scimitar Squad and Proton Rocket
Dark Curse

We played 75 points against a list i use regularly

Biggs, Cracken and a Blue B Wing, with some upgrades

I took biggs down but was picked apart easily. 2 shots just dont cut it.

Still i enjoyed my game. Really liked the Scimitar pilot.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

We had an in-house tournament last night for fun with some of my buddies. This is what I flew:

Corran + AS + PTL + R2-D2

Wedge + Determination

Biggs

I ended up going 3-1 on the night, beating a Whisper/TIE Advance list, a Whisper/Interceptor list, and a Decimator/Whisper list. My only loss came in a rematch against the Whisper/Advance list I had previously won against. Against the Decimator/Whisper list, I managed to keep out of Whisper's arc and FF Chiraneau down, although I lost Wedge and Biggs to him. I chased him down with Corran, regenerating shields and rolling phenomenal green dice.

I was just messing around and wanted to try out a lot of things at once. The Defender is fine but Vessery's pilot ability is not worth five points, for missiles or a cannon. It just doesn't get used enough.

I see now why Trelix with HLC works pretty well cause the only range you can't use the cannon, you get four dice anyway. His middling PS is still a pain in the butt.

Expose is worthless predator is so much better on Blk squadrons. And on others too I'm sure.

I lost, but barely. I took his B-wing down to his three hullpoints when he started chipping away at my Firespray which is just not as manueverable as a B-wing. Barrel roll makes a huge difference.

I brought Whisper in a phantom with advanced cloaking device and fire control system, a stock TIE fighter academy pilot, and a TIE interceptor sabre squadron pilot with a hull upgrade and determination.

My Interceptor and TIE fighter both took hits early on, rolling terribly to damage the enemy and to evade damage. Both were taken to 1 hull quickly. I flew them hard and fast out of danger, to come around again later with my allies' squadrons.

My phantom did heavy damage to Biggs, and then failed to finish him off on another turn with 5 attack dice. It finally managed it, then in two attacks lost both shields then got a direct hit crit. I couldn't dodge worth a damn, this game.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I flew Peregrine's Super Corran in the store championship today:

Corran Horn (E-wing) + Fire Control System + Push the Limit + R2-D2 + Engine Upgrade

Dash Rendar (YT-2400) + Heavy Laser Cannon + Outrider + Veteran Instincts + Recon Specialist

This is the first time I've flown a YT-2400 and it took me a couple of games to kinda figure out the best strategy. I ended up going 1-2 (plus a bye because we had 29 players) and every list I flew against was a variation of the Whisper/Chiraneau list. My first game I held my own for a while before losing without taking anyone out. My opponent kept getting inside my doughnut because of my poor flying.

My second game, I was blown off the board in about 15 minutes. It didn't help he was literally rolling all hits every single time he fired at me and my green dice did nothing to help. Again, my poor handling of Dash helped him tremendously.

For my third game, I flew against my friend and I mopped the floor with him... I think I finally figured out how to fly Dash a little better and it helps that I took out his Whisper early in game, while she was cloaked no less! Corran stayed alive thanks to my ace flying and his shield regeneration. My buddy gave Corran chase and I managed to consistently stay at range 3 or behind an asteroid (often times both!) while Dash blasted him from range. I pulled a tricky maneuver with Corran to end the game: I circled back around and came at his Decimator at range 1 and laid a nasty hit on him (two hits and a crit, which wound up a Direct Hit), shrugged off a point blank shot, and used Corran's ability to finish him off with four hits before we could start another turn.

Had a 3vs 4 today, 300 vs 300 split evenly.

I took the 100 point list mentioned elsewhere on here:

Soontir Fel - PTL, TL
Co....something Jax - PTL, TL
Whisper - Advanced cloaking device, VI

It was AWESOME. I ran circles around two of the rebel players playing 75 points each. Soontir Fel took 2 damage when in a tight spot with some bad rolling, but survived. Nobody was destroyed. The other two Imperial players thus had 200 points vs 150 and eradicated their opposition, then came to help me out. I was able to keep them busy the entire game, taking out one X-wing and damaging their YT-....whatever, not the falcon the other one. All in all a great time!

I actually got to play a the other day but hadn't expected to so much, so I just kind of grabbed some stuff. We had decided to leave big ships out of it since neither of us has played much which led me to a weird choice of
A-Prototype pilot with the refit
A-ditto
X-Luke
X-Rookie
Z-Craken

I liked two A's and a Z with a yt2400 when I was playing around with my new ships after x-mas, but I dunno how I liked flying this particular batch. I wanted to take the A's and Z, but couldn't find a great compliment. Didn't want to go whole hog on an E and mishandle it so I took look and a rookie pilot. They both died earl on and the game ended with a couple of scuffed up ties chasing a banged up A-wing till we decided to call it

The ties all had pilot skills above 3 so it was a pretty good lesson of how a game plays out when you take low pilot skill dudes, gotta think a bit differently. I guess that's part of why I liked Craken, he gave the A-wings a chance to boost a couple of times and let Luke take a focus+target lock shot on the first volley.

Played another game:
Royal Guard Pilot + PTL
Saber Squadron + VI + Stealth Device
Bounty Hunter + Shield Upgrade
Obsidian Squadron Pilot

against a B-wing, can't remember the pilot
Wes Janson with R2-D2
and Hobbie with generic R2

I shot for 3 turns with pretty much everything I had and nothing died. He focused my Firespray as I had hoped, but it just died while I did nothing back. then he slowly picked off the rest of my ships. My Obsidian squadron pilot probably did the most work, taking off 4 shields throughout the game. spectators remarked on my bad luck and remarkable number of blanks. Small consolation when you lose everything but your TIE fighter while dealing no damage cards the whole game to a brand new pilot.

Tonight ran Soontir Fel with PTL and targeting computer, and Colonel Vessery with Engine Upgrade and Outmaneuver. Didn't have the points for the heavy laser cannon.

Was on a team with:

Advanced, advanced, Merek Steele
Bounty Hunter with gunner, seismic charge
TIE bomber with torpedoes and proton rockets

versus:
2 Y-wings
4 A-wings
2 X-wings
2 Z-95s

Being outnumbered by rebels was new to us, and it was going badly at first. None of my teammates could roll evades, an assault missile from an A-wing went off at JUST the right time, and the bomber and advanceds kept bumping into each other.

In the end, we called it a draw. Some fancy flying/shooting by Soontir Fel and our TIE advanceds kept us in the game.

Whisper & Friends - 98 points

  • "Whisper" + Veteran Instincts + Fire Control System + Rebel Captive + Advance Cloaking Device
  • Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics
  • Academy Pilot
  • Academy Pilot
  • Academy Pilot

  • I'm usually a Rebel player, but I had been messing around with this Whisper/mini swarm list in some friendly games so I decided to bring it to the monthly tournament at our FLGS last night and I placed second! My first game against a Phantom/Decimator (with the Decimator built defense-orientated) list was a little rough because I'm still not that good of a swarm flier and I kept crashing into myself and it was my only loss of the night.

My next game was against a Phantom (Echo maybe?) and two TIE Interceptors (Soontir & Turr). My opponent rushed ahead to joust with his Interceptors and I met him with my TIE swarm while Whisper moved in and flanked them. After the fist round of combat, Turr was destroyed (I don't think he even got to fire) and my TIEs blocked Soontir and while his Phantom tried to flank me. After the second round of combat, Soontir was hit with two criticals: Structural Damage and Weapon Malfunction. He went on to last another round before he was destroyed and then I went to work on his Phantom, which died soon after. I think I lost only Howlrunner and maybe an Academy Pilot this game.

My third and final game was against another Fat Decimator/Phantom list. He tried to rush me with his Phantom, but I moved mine into attack position. Since my Phantom out-Pilot Skilled him and I dodged his arc, realizing his tactical blunder, chose to stay cloaked with his action on the second turn. I then opened fire on him and and rolled three hits and a critical... his green dice betrayed him as he rolled two blanks and two eyes and Whisper disappeared in a puff of smoke. I spent the rest of the game chasing down his Decimator, whittling it down and eventually claiming victory.
