I started collecting Orks a few weeks before christmas... and just bought yet another bunch of items from eBay...

I originally was just going to buy a unit of lootas, as they were decently painted and I thought it would be a handy addition to my growing army. But the same guy was also selling a warboss and some kanz, so I figured "bid on those too, combining postage would make them quite cheap".

Well I didnt get the kanz, but I did get the warboss... so I last-minute impulse bought the hardback Ork codex off him as well.

Which I did actually need, as I can't keep borrowing this codex for much longer... and I did need a warboss too...

But this isnt the only purchase I've made this month lol. Still have a good bunch of stuff thats in the post.

I'm guessing I'm not the only one on here who has fallen into the trap of purchasing way too much stuff in too short a time lol.

You aint alone! I have to consciously restrain myself from purchasing more stuff on ebay.. I got 20 guardians 10 DA 2 farseers 2 weapon platform and 5 HB in a space of 2 weeks which I have not painted yet.. (guardians im doing now

)
Ohh and OOP HE phoenix guard command unit box

No more purchases until I paint this stuff.

Yeh I've just assembled 3 killa kanz I already had (including lots of magnetisation so it took a while) and I'm painting them as we speak... I'm maybe halfway through them, though most of what I have left is detail work + doing the arms.

Unpainted though... Deff dread, 10 grots, 10 boyz.

and in the post... warbikers, four 3rd party jetbikes (that I plan to turn into deffkoptas), umm... probably other stuff I've forgotten lmao.

I'm actually glad the lootas and the warboss are already painted, as otherwise I'll be way too far behind. I may need to just say no to any more purchases... but when good quality stuff comes up on ebay I hate to miss it haha

I did save myself a bit of money, by converting an old DE raider into a warkopta/trukk. And also a wraithlord into a deff dread lol. Both of these are now painted, and im pretty proud of them.

Also subsidising a bit of my spending by selling off my old tyranids, as I dont really play them anymore. Preferring the Ork aesthetic. Though I am keeping my Eldar. (Even the Deff-lord is magnetised so I can still use it as a slightly orky wraith lol)

Though they are both new on sprue and delivered for £40 total so wasn't a bad deal (vs a total of something like £60 + delivery from GW) but even so...

I may have a problem.

Is it just me or is it virtually impossible to find an item as ubiquitous as the Space Marine Rhino for a price (incl. shipping) cheaper than what e.g. Wayland Games offers if you place an order over 40 quid to get free shipping?

Really? I'm surprised... though the cheaper the original model, the less of a drop it makes on ebay (especially compared to waylands automatic discount.)

Plus everyone uses rhinos, so they are commonly sold and commonly bought. The shipping cost is the issue.

No its funny cause a couple years ago (around 2011ish) I bought a Tau Devilfish for like 13 pounds incl. shipping. The thing was so cheap I just couldnt say no.

Recently I get the feeling your only chance to save money on ebay is if you buy an entire army (or at least multiple squads at once) or if you win a bid.

On a similar note, I buy almost everything wh40k from ebay considering the prices are always a couple bucks cheaper AND products always seem more readily available (considering I get every product I order the next day or the day after) essentially with light-speed shipping.

My next move is a DKoK army..

I'm worse in that I buy from eBay or gumtree all the time.. But not for the army I need!
I'm pretty fickle and I like a lot of the models across the whole board of armies so I end up buying things here and there that I either never use or really don't need.

Luckily enough I managed to sell most of my odd ends off at only a small loss the end of last year and I've promised myself I'd just stick to my blood angels... But I literally just bought Vulcan he'staan 5 minutes ago from eBay.. Doh

I recently started using ebay again. I picked up a few models for friends, a couple odds and ends for my nids and bretonnians, etc. Now looking back, I just spent more on models in the past month than I did all last year. Damn you ebay!

I ordered another set of precision files at work coz the one i was waiting on from china was taking its sweet time and I didint think it was going to come... It was at home when I got in

Since I was already on ebay I got a command box of OOP metal HE swordmaster ...

I to just recently did some buying on e-bay. I think I did QUITE well.
I got an Elysian Venator for $35 on one bid.
Not sure of the normal cost.
On another I got 2 Basilisks, 2 LR (1 BT, 1 Dem), 2 Scout Sentinals and a Chimera for just under $100.
Those total about $300 worth of merchandise.

It is hard to NOT BID on stuff sometimes.
