I built a
GW Imperial Knight a while ago, and put LEDs in its eyes. Worked out great, and makes for an awesome night light too (heh). The only thing that I didn't quite think through is the switch placement.
I used the LED kit from machinator248 (
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261648240909), and in order to switch the lights on/off I have to take the knight's carapace off, flick the switch and replace the carapace. Not elegant but it works. I'm about to start building my second knight, and would like to explore something more elegant.
My goal is to keep the wiring contained to the upper body (rather than run a wire down the leg and have the switch under the base) because I want to be able to take the knight apart at the waist and swivel it 360 degrees without worrying about the wires. Does anyone have an idea for a clever switch placement that would be well concealed and yet relatively easy to reach without taking parts off the knight? I was toying with a thought of using a push switch that is reachable through the hole on the top of the knight's carapace (I could push it with a pin through the hole or something), but can't find a suitable push switch.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
