So I've been considering building a Tau Army, and was checking out some of the bundles that are available.
I thought the Farsight Enclave Web bundle looked like a pretty good deal, and as a bit of fun decided to see what the savings were.
Here are my findings, and they may or may not surprise some people.

Farsight Enclave Web Bundle

"This bundle contains 44 plastic Citadel miniatures, including: 1 Commander Farsight; 2 XV8 Crisis Battlesuit Teams of 3 models each and 6 Gun Drones; 1 XV104 Riptide Battlesuit and 24 Fire Warriors. Also includes 24 resin Farsight Enclave Fire Warriors Shoulder Pads."- Taken from the item description on the GW website
Price-$364

Okay, there have to be some decent savings there, right?
Here is what we get when we do an itemized breakdown of the items in the bundle at retail price

One Commander Farsight-$50
Two XV8 Crisis Battlesuit Teams-$130
One XV104 Riptide Battlesuit-$85
Two Fire Warrior Teams-$73.50
Two Sets of Farsight Enclave Fire Warrior Shoulder Pads-$26.50

Okay, let me fall back on my three R's like they taught me in school...
My rithmetic skills are telling me that comes out to...$365...
Thanks for the $1 in savings!

Talking to my friend in the UK, he told me (and showed me) that using Wayland Games (a site that GW has taken measures to ensure it's North American clients have no parallel of), I can compile almost the exact same kit (of liscensed GW products, mind you) at AN ACTUAL DISCOUNT!
At the time of writing this, Wayland Games does not have the shoulder pads, but all other parts of the kits are available.

Here is the list and prices of the items in GBP,with American dollar values in parenthesis .

One Commander Farsight- £34.50 ($52.25)
Two XV8 Crisis Battlesuit Teams- £64 ($96.93)
One XV104 Riptide Battlesuit- £40 ($60.58)
Two Fire Warrior Teams- £35.20 ($53.31)

So that comes out to £173.70 or $263.07, and my friend and I concluded it would cost about $30 to have it shipped from his house to mine, bringing the total up to roughly $293.07 or thereabout, which gives me a total savings of about 20%. It may not seem like much, but during my short time in this hobby I have learned that people don't mind taking savings where they can get them.

So moral of the story is, make a friend in the UK, my fellow Americans

Well, 20% is a pretty good saving.
I'd go for it.

And you, my German friend, are totally free to do so.
But we don't have any online retailers anymore in North America.

Kinda new to 40K?

The "web bundles" are famous for not offering a discount, they are literally a themed collection of models for full RRP.

There are some boxes around which do offer a genuine saving, but these are then often available from third parties for a further discount.

Which leads me onto my second point. I literally cannot think of a single reason for you to use Wayland when there are so many domestic discounters you could use and save on the shipping.

I'll leave it to my transatlantic cousins to make specific recommendations, but they're about - the difference is that GW's trade terms prevent an "add to cart" function on US retailer's sites, so you frequently have to request a price list and place orders via email, but equivalent (or better) discounts to Wayland are available, with much better shipping.

Umm, yeah. People use 3rd party distributors all the time. They're called FLGSs, and eBay.

GW has always charged silly high retail prices, and people have always been able to get around it by not buying direct.

But not everyone has a FLGS, and while I'm not amongst the ranks of this group, I've found a surprising number of people don't trust eBay

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

One of the big "online" (well, they essentially are an online store but can't actually use an online cart for GW stuff because GW are a horrible company who should feel bad) retailers in Americaland is The War Store.

Put a list together, email it to their team and get an invoice back to pay, then wait for your models to march in through the post

That makes sense I suppose.
I guess then they just order them like it's inventory for their brick and mortar operation?

NEVER buy from GW unless you have no options. Local stores give price breaks. I also wouldnt buy from the UK vendor as any savings you get may get killed in shipping.

Dice head games has 25% off GW, and they're US based. Huge savings on a big army. My eldar 1850 list is about $175 cheaper through dice head.
