The other day, I was playing a game with my CSM and had some oblits killed turn 2 or so because I forgot the they had 2W. Then I lost the game becuase my buddy was playing mech guard and they were my only threatening Anti Tank units that game. I used to track wounds with dice on the bases but that sin't practical now because I just based my army with stylish little rocks and things and I can't get them to stay flat. How do other dakkanaughts keep track of wounds on bigger models?

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature. |

Get some little tiny D6 dice - you can often sit them on top of models in little nooks and crannies if you can't fit normal D6 dice on their bases. Or use wound tokens rather than dice - just add a token to the model everytime it takes a wound until the tokens equal the total number of wounds it started with, and it is removed from play.

I use tokens, it's too easy to pick up a 'wound' dice by accident and roll it when I get excited and reach for the nearest dice!

Not with the dice I use for rolling, if I can help it, but with dice in general. I have a brick of chessex in my army case that isn't good for much else.

Considering I have over 70 dice of multiple sizes, colors and such, I just use them. I keep threatening to cut out some sprue corners and fashioning some kind of bracket on my bigger models like the Carnifex, Hive Tyrant and Dreadnaughts. I don't do scenic bases so a simple 12mm bracket would be easy, if I ever get around to it.

I have certain dice only used for Wounds/Hull Points that I keep as close to the model without getting in the way.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I do this too. I use 16mm dice so my wound/counter dice are 12mm

I've used d4's so that they're easy to distinguish as wound markers, plus they're a lot harder to accidentally knock over when you're moving things.
Oh, and I always just set them to the side of the model.

Tokens work just fine...heck you could just use poker chips, paint a Chaos symbol on them if you have free time.

Dice that sit by the base of the models with multi wounds. Common practice with my thundercav.

I use stat cards in sleeves, so I can mark off wounds or hull points taken with a whiteboard marker.
This also helps me remember special rules, and if vehicles have jinked or not.

Hmmm you know..... I already have stuff laying around for WMH. I could fashion something like this up for Vehicles and Characters. Not a bad Idea.....

I use bright red dice that I only use for wounds. All of my other dice are a random assortment of greens/greys/browns etc. Bright red = wounds.
One of my buddies uses red glass beads, which makes it super simple.
