Playing a game at Warhammer World Nottingham soon, and I'm curious to know if my opponent can place a Stompa anywhere on the table. I say not, he says yes, and I really want to know, just in case he can't put it down and not use it. So, does anyone know if it can fit?

depends on how you play that terrain?
he could in theory walk over it crushing it.

if its considered a ruin and you arent using ruin destruction rules then he cant....

but again if you are playing with people that will argue over things that are blatantly illogical, just leave.... or punch them in the face

I would say that all planks are stable enough (somehow)!
Basiacally, are there any areas in which it's base will fit?

Wow, awesome setup.
It looks like certain areas have space to fit the stompa but he certainly couldnt shuffle across some of the bridges.

I think in all seriousness a stompa would not really be used in such an environment but this is 40k and, more specifically, orks. Go mental

Why would you want to play 40k on that table?

It looks like it could be a lot of fun for a kill team, or a themed 500 point game. I don’t see how a stompa is going to fit though...

Kill team games or even using the 2nd edition ruleset to play something akin to Necromunda (effectively if you buy troop and character models singly (but still respecting the force percentage charts for characters/squads/support) and remove squad cohesion the rules are nearly identical if you just need a fun game to play) would be absolutely freaking awesome on that board.

It would be great for narrative games portraying two small infantry-centric forces fighting over some sort of mining or trench works. Orks mining for material, Chaos digging for an artifact, Necrons boiling out of a mine that "delved too deep", etc.

Although without some additional thematic blocking terrain on the platforms, the entire board is a giant killzone for ranged troops, so that would not be very fun.

I'd say the only place you could realistically fit the stompa there is on the central platform, as for background it is quite percievable that some mek started out making what was meant to be a small machine and by the time he was done he'd made a stompa, took a look around a realised he now had no way of getting it out of the cave.

Soon his foes would learn that the only thing more dangerous than a savage three hundred pound brute is a savage three hundred pound brute with a plan - Ork Codex

well, gunline tau would probably have fun on this map. Everyone else would be annoyed. Poor map choice for 40k in my opinion, and especially against an assault army, you are giving the weakest aspect of the game even more of a handicap.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

We both really liked the look of it, but realised that it would be bad for tanks and such, so we agreed on a primarily infantry army for both of us. However, he says he will take a Stompa, which I don't think will even fit. If it doesn't, I have said that he doesn't get to place it, but I'm trying to persuade him out of it as would be annoying for him to show up and not get to use it.

wow, that's a cool picture! i'd say the stompa could, but it would also crush the city.

INSANE army lists still available!!!! Now being written in 8th edition format! I have Index Imperium 1, Index Imperium 2, Index Xenos 2, Codex Orks Codex Tyranids, Codex Blood Angels and Codex Space Marines!
PM me for an INSANE (100K+ points) if you desire.

I suggest you might want to play night fighting on this board. Also, considering the rickety nature of the structure I'd suggest it be impassable to any model larger than infantry.

I imagine squeezing a stompa onto the walkways will ruin the visual element of the game so I can see your apprehension to your opponent's plan.

I like that, how would flyers count for that?(if they are Zooming)

Easy, just don't use them. Not every game HAS to include flyers, they are so overplayed.
