I want to take some Rough Riders in my Guard army mainly for their speed and the roles they can perform such as objective grabbing, tank hunting or as a counter charge unit. Plus many opponents can be caught off guard by them, while they are weak they still seem like a fun unit to field.

So I'm looking to hear players experiences either using of fighting Rough Riders, what are they like and what areas do they fail and succeed at?

My question is not whether I should take them but how to best equip them so far I've seen rough riders setup in 1 of 3 ways, I'll attach a poll to this thread.

Other, use them as a cheap infatry deletion unit. Meq or worse saves will get eaten by them on the charge that sternguard until troublesome? Rough riders don't think so.
