Subject: Any Differences between the SM Codex and Sentinels of Terra Pedro Kantor.

Hey mates, I have been working on my Drop Pod list and so far I started out by purchasing 3x Drop Pods and 3x Tac Squads to get things going, and while at my game-store, I was told that Pedro Kantor is also in the Sentinels of Terra book. Now while I have ordered a copy of it, I have yet to receive it at this time so I can't confirm it to be sure but is he in the Sentinels of Terra Codex and if that is the case, are there any differences between him in the SOT book compared to his stats in the SM Codex? Always have been a fan of the Crimson Fists fluff and Pedro himself, and if he is similar to the the one in the Space Marine Codex, I am very tempted to take him over Lysander for both fluff and competitive reasons, as he is a solid HQ for what he brings to the table.

He's not in Sentinels of Terra. There are no characters with alternate versions in different books that are play-legal at the same time (barring rare exceptions that represent the character at different points in their career)

Does Sentinels of Terra offer any new characters or units or is it just a fluff/formation book?

Sentinels of Terra is Imperial Fists, Pedro Kantor is Crimson Fists...
And like the vast majority of the supplements, there are no new units or characters in it.

Thanks for the replies so far. And I just contacted my buddy who mentioned that and he says according to the Army Builder SOT Codex List, he is mentioned in that. So I think that is why he thought that Pedro was available to be taken in the SOT Codex Supplement. There are only 3x Special Characters listed in the SOT on Army Builder: Lysander, Pedro, and the Sgt. Garadon. Besides that, all the SOT have are the generic, regular SM HQ options.

that's accurate. special characters are tied to chapter tactics and SoT requires you to take Imperial fist chapter tactics.

So if that is the Case I could take Pedro through the SOT Supplement Codex or would I have to take him through the SM Codex?

Doesn't the supplement tell you specifically what HQ units are available to you? I don't have it handy, but I was thinking it was Lysander from the Codex: SM or generic captain.

No, you can take Pedro-the supplement basically ties you to a specific chapter tactic choice, and you are then able to make any HQ/unit choices which are available for that chapter tactic, unless specifically stated otherwise.
Pedro isn't disqualified-the fluff in the book is focussed on Lysander and the Imperial Fists, but there's nothing stopping you from using the same supplement with any other IF successor, such as Crimson Fists.

Thats what I thought, which is a good thing to as I am a fan of his model and traded some of my old Empire Characters for him, and I think he would make a solid choice for an HQ in a IF Drop Pod Army, especially if I decided to take Sternguard as they will then be troops.

Well, the non Black Templar successors at least as the Templars have their own CT.

You can use SoT with Crimson Fists or any other Imperial Fists Chapter Tactics chapter. One thing, though. Pedro does NOT make Sternguard Troops. He makes them Objective Secured, not Troops. They still use Elites slots.

Ah thats right. Last time I played 40k was last edition so I am still getting caught up with all of the new rules and changes that I have been made in this current edition. Going to take awhile but from what I have seen it is looking a lot simpler rules wise.
