Ok guys, I've been bouncing back and forth between lists. I love that we have so many choices but I think I've settled on the following:

Total = 1500
Baal Strike Force

HQ
Sang Priest w/ Jump Pack, Valor's Edge (Or Veritas and Auspex)

Troops
Tac Squad x 10 w/ H. Flamer, Flamer, Combi-Flamer, Drop Pod

Cassor the Damned

Elites
Sang Guard x 5 w/ PF, Axe (Priest Goes here)
Death Company x 10 w/ 2 x PF, Jump Packs
Stern Guard x 5 w/ Combi-Grav, Drop Pod

Fast Attack
Assault Squad x 5 w/ 2 x Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod
Assault Squad x 5 w/ 2 x Melta, Combi-Melta, Drop Pod
Drop Pod (For Cassor)

Heavy Support
Fire Raptor

The DC and Sang Guard will start on the table behind cover, hopefully able to get to combat by turn 2. I have 3 pods coming in on turn one with either melta, anti-MC or anti-infantry or flavored to taste. I see the fire raptor as being able to handle any air or light vehicles. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Seems solid really, I have aways had no luck with Sanguinary guard. So I tend not to run them. I would play test and see if you find any holes.

Do you ever go into a fight thinking "there's no point giving it my best, I'll get another chance later?"

I don't like the thought of a dc dread sitting on the table next to a drop pod for a turn. It'll get blasted before it reaches combat every time. It's nice because he's a troop, but for 60 points you can get a sniper scout squad and then use the other 60 points or whatever on something more useful

Or get a storm raven instead of the other raptor and put the sang guard and cassor on there

I don't think you should run the jump infantry. Swap them for more pod units. Why combi-grav on the sternguard? Combi plasma is the same points and better as you aren't relentless.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

the poded Dreadnought is a very scary unit. if he dies then they normaly put way more points to try and kill it and if they dont then he murders a unit and stays in CC.
I would keep him.

The grav could be so he wont "It Gets Hot" himself to death. but i also have not ran Grav myself so I dont really know 100%

If the rest of the force isn't going to get into combat until T2, then all of turn one can be dedicated to shooting the hell out of the podded dready-your assault squads aren't really much of a threat after they've popped whatever they target. Points lost for no gain, because it's unlikely that it will take the entire force shooting the dready to kill him.

I like podded dreadies, but you need a plan to make him work. I'd be tempted to take him off your list and use the points to beef up the rest of your force-possibly making your assault squads and sternguard stronger. Adding more bodies to the squads means it's harder for your opponent to kill the squads, which in term does basically the same job as the drop pod dready threat, but better, because you'll end up with at least 5 extra wounds running around as opposed to 3HP.

Personally, I also quite like grav, so I'd be tempted to play out the 5 combi-grav sternguard for a few matches and see how they go. I run Combi melta/combi grav sternguard squads for versatility, but then, I don't run BA where melta is readily available.

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm torn on Cassor as well but I don't really need/want another flamer/melta tac squad in a pod. Cassor at least can provide an emergency melta shot. Or backfield support in case my enemy pods on me. With five pods I have some flexibility on who I need/want on turn one. And I don't want to waste points on scouts a) because they don't fit the feel of my list b) I loathe the models and c) I really suck at painting skin. I'll magnetize the sternies to see whether the grav or plasma load outs work better. I figure I'm getting 2 shots either way, so while not an optimal grav platform it is at least something and I won't kill myself using it. Does any of that make sense or am I off my rocker? Thanks!

I stopped taking combi-plas sterns when 3 of them killed themselves :p

Yep, this is why I don't like plas. Unpredictable.

If you like the Dreadnought go with a frag cannon furioso and flesh tearers formation so you only need 1 troop.

I ran a bike squad of 5 with 2gravs and a combiGrav and a Priest (who is way better with T5 units btw as far as ignoring fnp goes) with a combi grav and a mm attack bike. It was awesome. Very scary, and it destroyed Wraith lords which was fun. Mobile grav with t5, jink, and fnp was baller

That is really good (bikes are awesome BTW) but an Object Secured Dread still is scary and hase a whole diffrent set of usefulness, And if he runs the Angels he gets +1 I on the charge

Hate to break it to you dude, but Blood Angels can't take the fire raptor.

For the chapter that supposedly prides itself on the mastery of the skies, gw seems dead set on giving us the fewest amount of fliers, least anti-air, and no fliers that aren't also transports

Are you sure you aren't confusing the fire raptor with the storm eagle...? Because the FW rules explicitly lists the fire raptor for BA and even a missile option just for us.

Wait, Keeble, where are your you getting your rules from, because Imperial Armour vol. 2: War Machines of the adeptus astartes states: "A Fire Raptor Gunship is a Heavy Support choice for a Codex Space Marines, Codex Space Wolves or Codex Dark Angels army" full stop

The Fire Raptor has been FAQed in IA2-2 to allow use in Blood Angel armies. You're safe.
