In other threads I've chosen to ally my nids with tau but people have said that a gscult would Chang fromapocalypse to convenience allies is this true or how do I do this I'm still new so open to corrections

If you are playing a standard game of Warhammer 40k, then Tau and Tyranids will be "Come the Apocalypse" allies as per the allies chart.

I am not aware of anything that would change this.

There is no such thing as a Genestealer Cult Codex. When people refer to this, they talk about a Genestealer heavy army and it's mainly for fluff reasons.

Tyranids are Come the Apocalypse allies with every faction, except themselves, where they become Battle brothers.

Almost. What most of us are referring to is the old 3rd/4th Ed. Genestealer Cult Army lists. IT is no longer available to play.
