Hey guys quick question. I main MT and I was wondering what wargear the medics in my command squad have? Do they still have Hot-Shot Rifles or pistols? Can they shoot at all? My codex doesnt say their weapons get removed but my scion medic model doesnt carry a weapon.

I don't have the codex, what's the wording on the on the entry for medic? If it says something like "takes a narthecium (or whatever your medic gets)" or "gets a narthecium" then he'd retain his standard weaponry.

With the marine apothecaries it specifically says to replace a weapon with the narthecium, which works because marines carry two weapons. I think it'd be kind of silly if your medic doesn't get any weapon at all.

On a side note, I thought the medic model was shown with a laspistol with a saw on it? You could alternately argue that he carries a laspistol, as that's what GW produced. Hot-shot laspistol, of course.

It says 1 scion in the squad may take a medi-pack

Also the codex says that only the Tempestor should get a hot-shot laspistol, the thing the medic is seen carrying is described as a medic tool in the instruction manual. So wouldnt the medic just have a hot-shot rifle? Are all the codexes this confusing? haha

No, it doesn't say that.

@OP: If the wording is like you say, he keeps his wargear and just adds the medi-pack.

Cool so when my command squad shoots its gonna be 1 bolt pistol, 3 plasma guns, and a hot-shot rifle?

No, it doesn't say that.

"One Veteran may be upgraded to an Apothecary, replacing their bolt pistol with a narthecium". Exact wording from the DA codex. So you'd clearly lose a weapon.

As for MT, yes, it'd be a hot-shot rifle based on the wording.

So no, marines don't replace their bolt pistols with a narthecium. Dark Angels do.

Hahaha, I now have further proof that DA get completely ripped off in gear and points compared to standard marines
