Combat Trophies (heads, helmets, etc.), scuffs and scratches on the armor, stains and other weathering, weapon swaps for savage orc weapons will all help with the savage look.

-Scarred up bodies (faces in particular) would be a good place to start. Nothing says brutal like a mug only a mother could love.
-Dull colours. Nothing too bright and happy looking. Use darker greens for the skin and lots of browns and dark greys and dark metals. This should help give them a "heavier" feel. Another way to accentuate this would be to give them very bright red eyes. That will contrast with the darker colours and help give them a more menacing appearance.
-Plenty of blood and gore splattered around the place. Dried blood would be preferable because too much fresh looking blood would clash with the point above. Still, a little fresh blood wouldn't go astray.
-Over sized melee weapons. I know orks already carry large weapons but if you can get your hands on some even bigger weapons it will help give them an overbearing presence. Ogre weapons from the Fantasy range would work well for nobs and the warboss, although might be a little large for regular boyz.
Hopefully that will give you some ideas. Get the juices flowing.
Orks are renowned for their ability to survive injuries, so maybe a few with missing limbs and mean-looking rusty steel replacements, something like Azog the Defiler in the Hobbit movies?
I also find a red wash in there mouths/around the teeth also helps. Gives them more of a fleshy look inside that really compliments the green skintones.
