Are power fists considered power weapons? Obviously the name implies it, but I don't like using names to justify things *cough*rites of teleportation not effecting drop pods because drop pods don't teleport*cough*

Yes, a Power Fist is a Power Weapon, if only in the generic sense. A Powe Fist is not a Power Weapon as defined in the game, however. If your model has the ability to purchase "Power Weapons", it is refering to Power Swords, Axes, Mauls, and Lances. From a fluff stand point, yes, a Power Fist is very much in the same class as a Power Sword.

If you are talking about in-game from a rules stand point no, they are different weapons with different profiles and different special rules....

Yeah, they're no longer in the same family.

In the previous edition, PFs were power weapons that doubled your strength. In the current edition they're a melee weapon with double Str and AP2. Power weapons are any one of a number of profiles.

Fluffwise, they are power weapons. Except the powerfield is less important than the increased strength from the servos.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

In other words, you can't pay 10pts for a Power Weapon, and receive a 25pt Power Fist.
