So I normally play guard but throw in a few ba or gk in from time to time to mix things up. Recently I've got more and more ba built but hit a problem last night with assault terminators.
Normally I would always go th/ss but with the baal strike force +1 ini I'm tempted to put 2 claws 3 hammers in a 5 man.

My usual games are against sw with a lot of ss thunderwolves with wolf claws or necrons with lots of wraiths so I'm thinking thinking a few ini 5 attacks could work well.
What's people views on a optimal setup?

Go 2 with LCs and 3 as TH/SS if you want a mix.

Bring a crap ton of thunder hammer storm shields. Then have a grey knight psycher up their 3++ to 2++ and watch hilarity ensue.

Against TWC, I5 claws would be great(er than hammers), and lets not forget shred (and S5 if you get the charge) to further counter the wolves high T.
Question is if you would get a chance to fight them; the wolves great movement might keep them out of reach

If you have the points you might want to boost the unit with Corbulo. He would raise the WS to 5 and I to 6 (even countering any lords riding with the wolves) and bring a nice FNP to your Termi armour.

Against T5 stuff with those kind of invuls, LC are a good choice (even better with +1 initiative). Hammernators are generally preferred because of their resiliency against AP2 - if you have a way of transporting them (e.g., a stormraven) then their lack of 3++ isn't as huge of a detriment.

If you're relying on your guardsmen for ranged AP2, then a group of LC termies can have it's place (and BA have the best LC termies).

How about you stick a terminator Libby with a staff and storm shield in a unit with 3x claws and 2x Ss/Th. That way you still have 3 shileds and you could buff someone with quickening, if you also got the unleash rage power that unit would be nasty.

Libby with shield? What kind of heresy is this!
I need to get home to my codex and read the small print.

You usually run guard and ally in Blood Angel terminators?

Heres how you run them. 1 or 2 LC, rest TH/SS. Stick a Sanguinary Priest in there and two Ministorum Priests.

These suckers will not die. Rerolling failed to hits, rerolling failed armor saves and invuln saves, AND FNP. oh man.

Or you could go with the Libby and go for invisibility or something like this.

But seriously Ministorum Priests. 2+ rerollable is always a good thing.

I wasn't going to play this dirty straight away but I have lots of idea of how to abuse this unit. Initially I was thinking 3 TH 2LC, Lib Valours edge + SS. Was thinking lib + quickening hitting at ap2 should cause a couple of wounds and gives me options.

my dirty option was 5 TH SS, Lib Valours edge + SS or Sang priest(no SS) and Draigo (GK primary) depending on powers i could 2++ and/or S10 hammers which means those 2 wound t5 modles die a lot faster. That and draigo with the quickening cast on him is surly worth a laugh in a challenge vs anything.

as for invisibility I choose not to use it in 40k. in our gaming group we like strong lists but invisibility in 40k should be kept to tournaments where you don't need to make/keep friends!

Valours edge is wasted on a libby as you are already paying for their force weapon. Lets say a force weapon is worth 20pts (power weapon + force). Since you are replacing it, that means you are paying 40pts for an ap2 powersword.

Better to give the Libby the staff from our relics. But I wouldn't run my clawinators with a lib, I'd run them with a priest for ws5 and FnP. In particular I would run corbulo here. He he.
