Returning/new player getting back into fantasy and just wondering what you lovely peeps thought of this list. I kind of wanted a bit of everything so I can get to grips with the game again before I even think about I full on army. So here go's:
Mage Level 2 + Channeling Staff - 135 pt (the staff was added as I had 14 points spear)
White Lions x 10 - Full Command - 121 pt
Archers x 10 - Full command - 130 pt
Silver Helms x 5 - Full Shields - 115 pt
501 points in total.
I think this would be a fun list to play but any advice is always welcome.

Looks like quite a strong list if you play them right, but I would never leave Lothern without a trusty Bolt Thrower in there! With the Silver Helms I would either pick off the smaller units or use them to flank bigger units as they are quite strong. The Archers should provide some cool covering fire for WL but try to make sure they don't get engaged in Close Combat as they are really bad at it and have a lame armour save. What Lore are you using for the Mage, by the way? I would suggest either the Lore of High Magic against army's from the Forces Of Good as Lileath's Blessing is quite good, but with army's from the Forces of Destruction use the Lore of Shadows or Death as it is really effective against them. Hope this helps

Looks decent enough, but I think your point values are wrong, or I'm not reading your list correctly.
5 Silver Helms with shields and full command is 145pts, not 115.
10 White Lions with full command is 160pts, 121.
This puts you 70pts over 500.
If you drop the command from all your units (except for musicians on Silver Helms and White Lions) you will be at 500 exactly.
So it would look something like this:
- Mage lvl 2 (High Magic) w/ Channeling staff 135pts
- 10 Archers 100pts
- 5 Silver Helms, w/ shields, musician 125pts
- 10 White Lions w/ musician 140pts
Total: 500

Thanks peeps, this is the handy info I was hoping for... I really wanted to put a bolt thrower in there but couldn't see how to squeeze it in, or what to swap out.
That was my thinking to LoA, try to out flank with the silver helms, or intercept a main character. Have the white lions get up close and personal while the archers picking of units, leaving the Mage to deal with anything else. I'm still reading up on the magic lores so thanks for the advice there i shall do a bit more reading in that department.
Oh, really, I'll double check my calculations Turaion but thanks for pointing that out. I'd admit I was a bit sleepy when putting this list together and thought I was going a bit nuts.

In a game of this size, I think that High magic is the best because you have 2 signature spells to choose which makes your mage much more flexible.
Also, as for the point costs, amending your list will have little impact on gameplay at this size. You don't really need full command on small 5-10 man units.

Oh I'm such a derp, just realizsed I was not upgrading units and instead just thinking it was 7 units plus what you want. /facepalm.
So after going over your new list I had to drop the Channeling Staff as it pushed him over the 25% threshold (or will that not matter?). The army now looks like this;
- Mage lvl 2 (High Magic) 120pts
- 10 Archers 100pts
- 5 Silver Helms, w/ shields, musician 125pts
- 10 White Lions w/ musician 140pts
I have 15 points spare so I can throw an upgrade in somewhere. I was thinking of adding some light armor to the archers just for the saving throw help.

The 'new' list looks still like a strong list and I would probably add Light Armour to the Archers as even a 6+ Armour Save is better than nothing, but if the Archers get engaged in combat anyway they're probably as good as dead. The real use for the Light Armour that I was thinking of was if they were shot at. Hope this helps

It dose indeed LoA. It's nice to know that I was thinking along the same lines as someone with a bit more exp on the army. If the archers get into close combat, they are pretty much toast.
Should I throw the Mage in with them?

Well, it would help them massively if you take defensive spells to make them better, but as the Archers are quite a weak unit you risk the Mage getting killed or challenged, which when you're a Mage will result in imminent death But if you don't get the Archers into close combat he should be fine and a great asset to the Archers. Hope this helps

Don't waste points on light armour for the archers, another body would be better. Almost everything is Str 4 now a days, so you're spending points on nothing.
Remember, if you use High magic every time you cast a spell the unit gets a ward of 6, and is increased by 1 point.
So if you are afraid of the archers getting into combat, if you get two spells off they'll have a 5++.
Best you can hope for is that you'll widle down whatever is charging at the archers and they'll be able to fight off whatever small unit is fighting them with ASF.
