What do you think of characters without independent character and which is your favourite or think is the best?

I'm referring to things like the new Solitaire, the assassins, The Sanguinor, I guess Hive Tyrants might count as well.

I ask because I got quite excited about the new Solitaire model and its rules and then realised, as someone who recently started Blood Angels, my codex has its own version with The Sanguinor although he's a bit more expensive.

So thoughts? favourites? top choices?

Look forward to hearing what you think.

Edit: Clearly Hive Tyrant varieties are popular as well as things like catacomb command barges but they weren't quite what I had in mind when I started this thread. I was thinking more along the lines of infantry characters like the ones described above with the exception of the Hive Tyrant.

I think if they're going to not have ic, they're going to need higher toughness or other mitigation against small arms to make it into my list like...ever.

My favorite is a Catacomb command barge because I think that a lord flying over his troops in a little skimmer to better command his troops is very thematic.

Only gripe I have is that there's no bodyguard option. It just screams "Praetorian bodyguards" to me.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

The Sanguinor is incredibly fragile not having IC. His points drop helped a little but his 3++ being downgraded to a 4++ did not.
An autrach or farseer on a jetbike with mantle is quite hard to take down though.

I feel the Swarmlord should have his invulnerable save all the time, not just in CC. To me he seems a little too fragile unless you pay for his 50pt meat sheilds. But I do prefer him rocking around on his own. He seems more badass that way to me.

4000 - Sons of Horus
5500 - Ultramarine's
1000 - Blood Raven's

Completely agree.

My favorite is a company commander. He is modeled with a cane and a cigar and tells people what to do. Like real leaders.

And when someone bad ass shows up, he says that's cool and his bros with plasma guns light it up. If that don't work conscripts are the answer. They are always the answer.

Nah, the Swarmlord is at his most badass when he suddenly stands up straight out of a swarming mass of hormagaunts, having been scuttling along on all sixes up until that point. He rises from the swarm like a swelling tide, Gaunts flowing from his back like water off Moby Dick's back.

Swarmy Dick. Some people might find fielding such a unit insulting.

I used to love Overlords in Catacomb Command barges back in 5th when they chariots didn't get locked in combat and were immune to challenges. Most of the time the barge would just get blown out from under them, but that was half the fun. The solo Overlord caught in a smoking crater right in front of enemy lines was a frequent sight and always a sign of an interesting turn to come.
Now they just "go down with the ship" and get stuck with whatever tac squad they bumped into. boring.

My thoughts exactly. I'd love to field the Masque of Slaanesh more often but those points die to a strongly worded insult

I think that the Solitaire can get away with it with his mobility and use of invisibility to keep from being shot.

Sanguinor is pretty manoeuvrable as well with his jump pack, he has 2+ 4++ as well, but he doesn't have hit and run so could get bogged down.

Vindicares could be safe as well cause they can stay out of range
