Take 10 Lychguard with Warscythes - you might be thinking huh, why these guys and not the sword and board lychguard or even better the triarch praetorians but hear me out.

Take a Cryptek with Chronometron and Veil of Darkness and attach him to the Lychguard

Begin the game with the unit on the table, out of LoS.

During your movement phase, activate the veil and have the entire unit turn 1 DS as close to the enemy unit you want to get rid of as possible.

You just got your footslogging Lychguard across the board; they got better melee weapons than Triarch Praetorians do, are 30 points cheaper than the Praetorian squad of same strength, sure they dont have shooting, but with the Cryptek they got 4+++ WBB and 5++ inv. saves, so they should be able to take a turn of enemy shooting before they get to assault your target.

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

It's fairly killy, but you have to remember a couple things about a squad like that.

First, Veil is great for adding mobility, but there's no way to reduce scatter or reroll it. It's not the most expensive deathball, but mishapping and losing the unit is pretty devastating.

Second, even once you deep strike and run, the enemy has a whole turn to back off (possibly even out of charge range) and shoot you. The power of Praetorians in my mind doesn't necessarily come from the shooting (though that's nice), but also from their 12" move.

Say you DS 12" from the unit you want to charge, maybe in important shooting squad. You run 3" (the average amount) towards them. They move 6" away and shoot, killing maybe 1. You move 6" closer and charge. That's a 9" charge (maybe 10 if the front Lychguard or two died), which isn't exactly a reliable amount, especially if they put cover between the two units.

Honestly, my recommendation sir. Put them in a Night Scythe, give the Cryptek the Solar Staff, put them wherever you want within 42" (36" movement on the Scythe, 6" disembark), then pop the solar staff on their turn. The Lychguard are where you want them to be, and are essentially Invisible until they can charge next turn.

Yeah, this is much more reliable.

Deep striking should be reserved (in my opinion) for tough shooting units that need to get in range quickly but can't footslog. Assault units need the precise landing, so transports are much more preferable.

This.. Played against this today and there was literally nothing I could do once he dropped this bomb down 3" away from my unit. Almost managed to shoot the Night scythe down before he beamed in, didn't realize the power of what was inside until it was too late

If only it was possible to stick the Solar Staff AND the Veil of Darkness on the same guy, you might be able to get away with this without having to use a Night Scythe.
(yeah, you could stick a Lord or something in the unit, too, but then it's almost NS costs again)
