Old codexes used to have a page with the old force org chart printed.

Since 6th edition, this has been moved to the main rulebook and none of the hardback 6th ed codexes have any force org chart in them whatsoever.

7th ed codexes started to come with alternate force org charts that you would use, like the Grey Knights with the Nemesis Strike Force that only requires 1 HQ and 1 Troops and allows you to roll for deep strike on turn 1 already, but your troops choices lose objective secured etc.

Dark Eldar got their own.

GW has taken a new approach with the Necrons codex, where they present a whole new approach to force organization: the decurion.

Basically the decurion consists of a core formation that you have to field, which unlocks lots of other formations. The core consists of 1 Overlord, 2 units of Necron warriors, 1 unit of Immortals and 1 unit of Tomb Blades.

This means you have to have an army with each of these units present to get the bonuses of the core detachment. Plus you get the bonuses of the decurion.

Now you can select any of the additional formations which come with their own formation bonus and also receive the decurion bonus.

You can, instead, field a "normal" Necron army using the old force org as presented in the main rulebook. In addition, you can take any of the formations from the decurion, but then those formations only gain their respective special rules and do not gain the additional special rules of the decurion since you arent fielding one.

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.
