Got a few Tyranids that keep falling over, is there anything I can do to get the base to become more heavy without adding anything ontop of the base?

for 20mm square bases I glue metal slottabase tabs from old metal miniatures to the underside (I usually superglue metal miniatures to non-slottabase bases so I have lots spare).
For 25mm bases I am pretty sure small coins fit underneath

Add some weight to the underside of the base? Thats what i do with my Infinity models that are not very well balanced. I use old bits of excess white metal that come with the models. You could probably use washers or small coins etc instead.

As others have said, putting some old metal on the bottom works wonders. If that isn't enough, add some metal or other material to the top as basing material.

Pennies are great for space marines, termagaunts, anything on a 25mm base with no slots. Small washers are also a great alternative. If you have any slotted bases, I believe they sell metal strips you can buy and cut up to use

A good old fashioned British penny does the job on most of my Daughter's nids (turns out you have some very top heavy models... and not in a good way!)
I'm not sure about other coins from around the world though...

Fender washers (washers with small hole).
Lead shot glued / green stuffed in base.
Gravelling base adds some weight, add a real scenic rock.
Hack / crush some model train lead weights and add to top of base as scenic item.
Add any above heavy stuff in lower hollow areas of model.
Extreme: I made a mold of the base and used low melt metal for it, weighs down nice.
Make the base resin and solid, add shot as filler if needed.
Enough I think.

I glue pennies on the underside of the base and it seems to work really well. I have also seen small ball bearings glued to underside of the base that works well, you just have to get the right size or it will make the base taller.

I fill the base with lead shot ballast, and seal it with plastic padding or modelling putty.

I'm all about pennies as well. I happen to have quite a bit of home-improvement going on, and as such, lots of galvanized 1inch circular hole punches from electrical boxes that I've collected for precisely this reason...

Many of my old metal minis have a (Canadian) quarter glued into the base It fits perfectly, and a lot of those older miniatures fall over if someone sneezes from the other side of the room. We have dollar and two dollar coins now (for bigger bases), but that could get pricey if you have a lot of minis

I found cheap washers from any hardware store were better than pennies etc., because of the imprinting. Washers have a perfectly flat surface. Easy to attach and balance better - at least with me. That's what I'll probably use next time. I just used pennies because that's what I had lots of on hand

Ironically, pennies are still probably the cheapest weight you can buy. Even surplus, im not sure you can buy a washer for less than a cent.
But they dont look very professional, and Ive had trouble with them detaching en masse.

I only recently found out the trick about gluing a 1p coin under the base. My models feel so much more sturdy after doing it!
Another plus is that you're finding a good use for all those pennies that you have lying around!

I used pennies for all of my plastic IG on non-slotta's. A good gap-filling (idealy a rubberized) superglue will keep the pennies from breaking away.
For balancing heavy figs on slottas or just sorely imbalanced figs where I need the most counter weight I use lead fishing weights/sinkers. They come in alot of sizes and are quite cheap. You want the "Split shot" style which tend to be cheaper, already come mostly cut in half (thinner) and have no metal loops on them. A good pair of pliers or a hammer and you can easily make them the right thickness and size to fit whatever base or cavity size you have.
Lead being heavier than most metals, this is a solution that works for even the most imbalanced miniatures.
Shotgun shot is another good option that I've heard of but never tried. I'm not sure what the cost is vs sinkers, but it's worth looking into.

I cast my own bases so if I want a weighted one I part pour pop in some lead or a penny and then top up the mould.
