I've had a huge box of nids for a few years now, never did anything with them. Now I've got the bug (ha) to run them while I'm getting the rest of my AS army up and running. I know nothing about the bugs, and don't have the new codex, so I figured I'd just see if there was anything salvageable from this box of bugs.


Whats in the box:

- 1 Hive tyrant. oldschool metal, no wings or goodies
-17 warriors. Half still on the spru, so all weapons should be available
-3 tyrant guards
-2 carnifex with all the extra bits available
-45 gene stealers. Some cool old Ymgarl ones from chapterhouse too :(
-4 brood lords (metal ones)
-2 lictors (one oldschool, one new one)
-~50 hormagants
-72 termagants, lots of weapons still on spru - but most have the devourers I think
-2 zoanethrope


So yeah, no fliers since this is an older horde box. But, I'm somewhat open to investing in some new toys like a flyrant.

Well many people think you need lots of flyers, mainly tyrants with wings twin linked brain devs and e grubs to be effective.

This is not always the case.

You could make a fairly decent list with

3 source list:

Hive tyrant

4 squads of 5 genestealers with broodlord each as troops

zoanthropes
carnifex

then take the following formations
Manufactorum genestealers
endless swarm

You're mostly well-equipped; I'd suggest getting a Flyrant, an Exocrine, and a couple of Venomthropes if you were to expand on that.

Yep.. Overall, pretty decent bug list. Maybe also a new Tyrannocyte or 2 and probably another Carnifex, as groups of 3 do pretty well.

Not much to add...playable as is, needs some Winged Tyrants, and Big Bugs if you want to be all "meta" vs any decent "competitive" list you'll need some upgrades. But "just for fun" it is all ggod.
