So I am going to be starting a dark elves force here soon. I've decided to purchase the Warhost of Naggaroth set. I know that the fleet master is terrible and will be making him a dread lord. This aside I was wondering what else I should look at getting to help further flesh out the force. This is not going to be a super competitive army to start. My goal is to build a good well rounded collection and build up to a competitive list in time for the GT in pheonix.

A few kits I was looking at getting were the Executioners, Bolt throwers, and maybe some more cold one knights as well.

On a side note I'm well aware of the rumors and put little to no stock in them and even if so are true plan to keep playing as I love the ,odel ranges and game systems.

People go to church and pray to entities for whatever reason. This guy just has his own set of theories. If 2000 years ago some guy wrote a book about the warp while lighting a bush on fire - there would be a whole bunch of people in temples right now worshiping warp related activity.

Bolt throwers definitely.

Cold ones are considered pretty meh, stupidity failures can completely ruin them.

Executioners can work very well. I love to put Tullaris in them.

Thanks Shas. shame to hear about cold ones as I love their models. Are there any other must haves to get for the time being that you'd recommend?

What are your opinions on the doomfire warlocks or darkshards?

Stupidity can be worked around, especially with a LD 10 general and BSB nearby.

Besides, you should only be making 2 (at most) stupidity checks a game. They WANT to be in combat a lot... so use them that way.

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.

While you are right Vulcan, is rare if you play right. But if you get your BSB sniped or a doom & Darkness off, failing that stupidity check has probably cost that unit the entire game as they now have to blunder forward and will probably get charged.

I love cold ones, I just run them with Malus Darkblade to remove the stupidity.

Darkshards are great core if you aren't running a fast cav avoidance list. Brolocks are stupidly good and pretty much an auto-include.

The Lair of Vengeance....Poole.

The real reason that cold ones are said to be bad is that they're entirely matchup dependent.

Against stuff like Crushers, if they don't get the charge, they lose quite heavily, and it's not so easy to guarantee the charge aganst that type of army.

And if you stick a load of characters in there, why not just take dark riders anyway? You'll be relying on the characters to do damage, so why not go for the bonus movement.

You have plenty to make a good start. Depending on the point level I would suggest getting another 10 corsairs to make a solid 30-strong block.

Bolt throwers are good.
Doomfire Warlocks are very good too.

Execs are good but I find them a tad fragile.
