Which do you like better, the yellowed moss or the moss left dark green?

Yellowed one is my pick. The little tufts add to it too...

Get your models on the table and looking good!

They'll all definitely get the grass tufts, I've just not done those on the rest past the experimentation wall yet, actually about to do that right now.

Yellow. Absolutely yellow. Provides a more realistic color variation instead of 'green flock' green.

There is not this idea.

I think the yellowed one works better too, because the yellow gives a contrast with the green of the base.

The darker green is good, though, gives it a kind of "deep in the forest" feel. Maybe it would work even better with a dried looking patch or two. Or go the other way and make some even darker green sections, to give a dampened effect? Just some random thoughts.

Ooooooo, definitely good ideas there for when I attach some walls to forest and rocky turf areas of terrain here later.

Yellowed (looks more like lichen though but it's still cool).
Maybe try a mix of both - moss at the bottom where it's darker & moist (try making it clumpy) & lichen on the sides & top?

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Finished walls, sans varnish. Went a bit lighter on the yellow to let more of the green show thru, and then additionally did a lighter coat of a lighter yellow. Future walls will likely have a coat of green paint down on the rocks before flocking the moss on because I do not like how "transparent" the moss is and how much Rock you can see thru them.

I really like these - will be interesting to see how this works with the green paint. Thanks for sharing!

Yellow for sure. The green is a little too bright and vibrant

It's a good result, and yeah, I think that green underneath would help it the next time.

Right on. I do think a dark and lush green could work well with that kind of approach. Moss can get pretty green and rich looking in the right conditions!

Looks very cool. Just bear in mind that moss etc grows from the inside out (from what I've seen anyway) so it'd more likely be thicker between the rocks than it would be on top of the rocks.

Awesome work either way though

I like the yellow one too... but what is this for? I think if you were going for a spring themed board the greener one could look good too. The green one could look nicer if there was a bit more colour variation, maybe with some dark brown.

Go with both! Take a look at some photographs, a mix of both types of moss even on the same model, will look much more natural than one solid colour. Test it out, the worst that can happen is you have an oddball wall.

How did you make the wall by the way?

Gets along better with animals... Go figure.

Maybe even darken up the stones a bit with a wash or two, they look a bit bright to me.

Yellow is more naturally looking the green was too uniform and hence artificial looking.

Saw that you went with the Yellow, those walls look nice!
