What if the 2+ terminator armor save could be re-rolled for a 6+ if failed? Seems like this would showcase the armors toughness against small arms fire while still leaving them vulnerable to heavy weapons without giving them 2 wounds or T5. Would this be balanced at all or just broken?

Wouldn't the 6+ be paper mâché in the face of anything with an AP value then?

It'd be meaningless game slowdown. But otherwise not particularly broken.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

The 6+ wouldn't be affected by AP as it treated as a re-roll for the 2+.

So instead of the save working 30/36 it works 31/36?

Not sure its worth the game slowdown for the occasional time you'd actually stop a wound.

I'd rather give the terminators Slow and Purposeful instead of Relentless and upgrade them to a 4++ like the Cataphracti Terminators. That would be just about right, though Storm Shields would need to drop 5 to 10 points for models in Terminator armour.

Personally, I kind of like the idea of simply letting them take both their armor (or storm shield) save *and* their 5+ invul save. AP2 isn't as omnipresent in my local meta as the internet seems to imply it is, so terminators seem to do pretty well against most threats. It's mostly just plasma and tau dakka that seems to give them trouble around here.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

I used WHFB armour-with-penalties plus ward saves in Aegis; it made Terminators particularly way too tough. I'm working on a revision but straight-up armour-then-Inv is game slowdown more than anything else.

I have this mental image from just reading the title of this thread, of terminator armour with red fire extinguishers strapped on in different places...

Age of Sigmar - It's sorta like a clogged toilet, where the muck crests over the rim and onto the floor. Somehow 'ground marines' were created from this...

Emergency armor system? Like catapulting a guy out of his armor before it explodes? You'll have to get some naked marine minis to perform it.

2 wounds doesn't change the basic problem with terminators, the lack of punch. Even Paladins with 2 wounds, 2 psycannons and a Apothecary aren't much up to the task when Str8 starts doubling them out, against smallarms it certainly helps. Toughness needs to be 5 at least (I mean why the hell does a bike give +1 T?)

T5 with a 4++ would solve the durability problem, in melee they aren't scared of much already so Str and A profile should stay the same. Allowing 3 special weapons a squad would give them the Tactical Terminators the punch needed.

Lol! Maybe a new set of terminator models that have release buttons on the model... whatever the naked marines are flung into (if any) are instantly removed from play. Of course for the sake of modesty, we'll let the marines have boxers... with chapter emblem options.

heheh....

I depiction Marneus Calgar catapulting himself out of his fancy termie armor in boxers with U on one side and hearts on another. For Honor and Glory!
