Hi folks!

I was browsing through CoolMiniOrNot and came across a set of Night Lord images that had a really cool rusting effect, very similar to the Blanchitsu style of painting.

In particular, the feet of the following models has the exact rusting technique that I'm looking for. How can I emulate this? I don't think the painter is just using Ryza Rust.

Also, any tips on painting models like the ones seen below? They looks absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if this is Blanchitsu style or not, I just want to know how!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Build up from dark reddy browns, to lighter browns, to an orange rust, probably a powder. Mix it up with inks and re applications of smaller amounts of previous colours.

It looks like a very heavily applied oil wash to me. You could also achieve the affect with rust tone powders. Mix the powders with alcohol or your favorite mixer, apply and let dry.

The rust mayalso be one of Vallejo's rust washes. They make three variations on the theme depending on how heavy you want the rust. The effect is similar to this...
