Ok so is 1500pt ig army with nothing but lmbt and 3formation of knights (9 knights ) a legal army .
against my sm list yes i know i don't run bikes and grav cents our chapter smash face so my sm army is crap

Well 9 Knights alone is close to 2500 points, so that first list is completely illegal.

The SM list is legal as a Combined Arms detachment, so as long as the points add up you are ok. And the army is not crap, it looks like it could do well enough.

There is a IG formation that is only LRBTs so that and Knight Detachments are a legal Battle-Forged army composition. But that is close to 3000 points (because you still pay for all the units in the army) so its not a legal 1500 pt army.

And the SM army is legal

Not at 1500 points. Each Knight is ~375 points so multiply that by 9 and ... you're over.

Wait, missed the fact that he's got 1,500pts of Guard too. You're playing 1,500pts versus almost five thousand.

In another thread he claimed that the Formation has no point-cost and therefore can be taken for free.

Zilka, pick up the book and read it.
Then check for yourself whether it's legal or not.
Hint: As long as you don't take too many points it will probably be legal.

Zilka, next time you're in a game, ask the other guy to show you his army list ahead of time. If it's taken you five games of getting stomped to notice you're playing against an army three times the size of yours something's gone wrong.

That or bring six Riptides and thirty-six Broadsides and claim they're free because they're a dataslate.
