So me and my friend made a different version of relic were the relic is inside a carnifex! He is in the center of the board and is surrounded by Gene stealers and 3 warriors Now the whole idea was to have the relic moving around AND that you would get a extra VP if you killed the carnifex holding the relic. All the normal rules for relic are applied.

Also the carnifex has a form of AI where we roll for scatter to decide where he is going. and will attack things within range and will charge anything within charge range as well. Now for dealing with the fact that he may be in range of both opposing armies he will roll D6 1-3 is one opponent 4-6 is the other opponent.

Thought it went well but what do you guys think? Could this work or would you prefer the old relic style.

That sounds fun. Not sure that has enough durability for how much firepower is out there. Perhaps Venomthropes instead of Warriors for added resilience.

A cool idea for representing two armies going after an important item only to have a third faction get there first though.

We made the Carn "old one eye" and pumped a good amount of points in them. Also we had a idea of giving them a 4+ cover save but it worked well considering we both fought each other and sent a minor force to try and slay the beast.

I've played something really similar to this actually, it can be a lot of fun. We start with this specific building in the center, a temple shaped like a shallow pyramid. The store owner has spare khorne stuff, so either he plays or we use a similar "AI" system. Soul grinder standing on the pyramid defending the relic, and bloodletters that respawn every turn on a 5+ drop around the base of the temple.
