One of the best shows of all time has started back up again gentlemen, what are the thoughts of those of you who have watched the start of the new season?

I think the sacking paris thing could be could, but how are they going to do it do you reckon? Skip the timeline ahead 40 odd years, or alternatively have Ragnar showdown with Charlemagne?

Spoiler:
River battle? Hell I was thinking the smaller force was a bait with a bigger force hidden in the wood line behind them. We all watch it unfold in Ragnar favor. Crew serve weapon wet dream to see all them troops lined up in the open hehe

My guess is, since the series is already playing fast and loose with history, that:
Spoiler:
the two invasions of Paris that happened in the 9th century will be combined, so that both Ragnar and Rollo can be in Paris at the same time. Maybe we'll have Charles the Bald/Simple introduced as a new character. But I think the season will end with Rollo deciding to stay in France, and thus establishing the future Normandy like the historical Rollo did.

Spoiler:
It would be good to see Rollo go through his own trials if he forms Normandy, and since they are playing footloose and fancy with history, maybe even skip ahead to the 10th century and detail the formation of the Varangian guard in Byzantium? At the very least though, it would be nice to see them start taking some of their trips west (to the americas and the like) and south (to Muslim Spain).
But since we are only one episode in this season I really wanna watch some more, before I speculate too much.

It's very minor but who remembers Erik from season one? Who noticed that his son is named Leif We haven't seen him since a very minor cameo in season 1, but Leif Erikson was referenced by the series.
Personally I think the series will end revealing that the opening is actually the ending Ragnar will fall overboard after a failed attack on Northumbria and will be captured and executed. The series will end with Floki going to Iceland, Rollo beginning his kingdom in Normandy (no longer feeling as though he lived in his brother's shadow), and Ragnar's sons assembling the Great Heathen Army.

I can't stand how even the HISTORY channel seems incapable of actually portraying the past factually correct.
They look marginally more like vikings than the grounders from 100 do but in reality you could probably exchange the costumes without too many problems. It would be nice to see some decent tools though, Ragnar is a king yet his weapons and armour are total junk, there a lot of good looking viking swords around these days, surely the producers of a show about the vikings could have got at least one. The costuming for Outlander is a lot better.
Don't forget that Ragnar Lothbrok is a fictional character anyway. He is made up of a mixture of other Viking characters, as I'm, led to believe. I think the connection between ivar and Ragnar is potentially correct, but it's been a while since I was really up to speed with the history. If that is the case then he would go on with two of his brothers to take York As the attack on Paris is mentioned I would suggest that Rollo could become the Rollo who was given Normandy.
With regard to costumes the, the Saxon ones in episode 3 are a bit BBC "Merlin" for my liking, but otherwise I think they done a really good job.
Did anybody see the bit at the end of e3 where is says, "next week on Vikings"? It had Ragnar & Ecbert having a chat. Is it just me or did it look like a mini promo itself? The two characters having a discussion, outside of the show, for want of a better description
Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

They really are playing around with Ragnar's character and those around him. Though his kids are pretty accurate: Bjorn Ironside allegedly was his son and so was Ivar the Boneless. It's interesting how they've demonstrated his bonelessness.
I've been enjoying the season so far. Hopefully they don't run out of steam!
