Great report, thanks for posting. Enjoyed your writing style, interesting and concise (although having a four model army helps, I guess!).

Did the IG player have any idea what he was up against beforehand? I usually don't like tailoring but I think I might allow an opponent some changes if I was playing Knights.

I can only imagine the feeling of power when placing those four impressive models down (and mild panic when the hull points start falling away!) Good win though, seemed quite comfortable ultimately, did the match take long?

No, the battle did not take long (the other reason I took Knights, wanted a quickie).

He did not know what he would be facing (regular opponent, we know what each other _don't_ have, but we both like to pull the odd surprise now and then).

We have both been wondering about the 'fairness' of Knights and other Super-Heavies in games. Used as Allies, I have rarely found Knights to pull their weight or earn their points (not that they aren't fun to use!). As a full army, we have more or less agreed that while they may be at the top end of armies, they are not unfair or the worst thing that can appear.

Other's mileage may vary, obviously.

the report was well written, but it was a little one sided. You're right when you say that the IG needed more big guns.

There's no way they could have won in that match up.

I just had a similar match vs. Eldar with my Knights though he did know what I was playing. We did maelstrom missions and it ended 21-1

This is the 3rd time I have played all knights and it goes the same way. Most armies that are balanced will struggle just like your opponent did here. We have discussed using the Escalation rules for super heavies with Knights to award VP for removing hull points. Though even in some of my games this wouldn't swing the fight much.
