Hey guys, I'm wanting to do a full cavalry/mounted Empire army and am looking at possibly entering it in a local 2800 point tournament in a few months. How does this list rate competitively and do you think it would fare poorly in terms of composition points and chances of being rejected? For reference, Karl Franz Ascendant is banned at this particular tournament. Cheers for any and all assistance!

Lords - 592
Arch Lector w/ Armour of Destiny, Shield, War Altar of Sigmar
Battle Wizard Lord w/ Lore of Light, Level 4, Earthing Rod, Talisman of Preservation, Warhorse

Heroes - 277
Captain w/ Full Plate Armour, Lance, Enchanted Shield, Dawnstone, Battle Standard, Warhorse (saves me a point instead of going the shield and barding route so that I hit 2800 points exactly for the same effect)
Battle Wizard w/ Lore of Light, Level 2, Dispel Scroll, Warhorse

Core - 705
Inner Circle Knights (12) w/ Champion, Musician, Standard Bearer, Standard of Discipline
Knightly Orders (5) w/ Musician
Knightly Orders (5) w/ Musician
Knightly Orders (5) w/ Musician (are lances and shields better than great weapons on these and ICK? I assumed as much but not entirely sure)

Special - 726
Demigryph Knights (4) w/ Standard Bearer
Demigryph Knights (4) w/ Standard Bearer
Demigryph Knights (4) w/ Standard Bearer (I take standard bearers for Blood and Glory as these are less likely to be fleeing than the chaff Knightly Orders)

Rare - 500

Maybe consider removing one of the 5 knight squads to add a couple more IC fellas, some musicians for the Demi's, who with them and your stanks will easily clean up most chaff or small blocks! Also, your BSB really could do with a ward save of some sort! But I like it so far and DAMN that's a lot of Demi's and stank power XD

As far as your core Knights go, I would make them lances and shield. The 1+ is very valuable and your Demis will be killing enough so you just need ur Knights to last

I want to say that the war alter in this list is not being used to full effect.

You will be served better by a hurricanum, the +1 to hit plus the extra power dice, it's also a bound spell in case your wizard nukes himself. With the points you save you can take a bardee horse for your lector.

@Sampson97 - I've thought about running the ICs in a block of 20 total before, but I think at that point either Magic Resistance or Stubborn (or both) become mandatory. My normal preference would be Musicians on the Demigryph Knights but I find I am really short on fortitude for Blood and Glory if I don't take banners on them, and finding points for both on each unit is tough as you would expect in this kind of list.

@Mordred - Yeah that was my assumption too and I'm definitely going that route now with your confirmation.

@Arbiter - I do find myself reluctantly agreeing with you, I love the theme and look of the War Altar but I definitely think a Hurricanum is the better investment here. That +1 bonus to hit is awesome, and the bound spell is pretty handy for a cavalry army.

Cheers for the feedback guys!

Just a quickie, I also have a 1500 point doubles tournament coming up soon and I am considering entering with 12 Demigryph Knights (3 units of 4), 1 big block of 14 IC Knights plus a Level 2 Wizard on Lore of Light, and a Steam Tank. Might it be worth dropping a few unnecessary upgrades on the wizard as well as two Demigryph Knights to fit in a Celestial Hurricanum? It can fit in under 25% Rare allotment at 1500 alongside the Steam Tank, I'm just debating whether the extra Demigryphs are worth it over the Hurricanum or not. Thanks again!

EDIT: I just realized the Hurricanum costs 10 more points than the Luminark, meaning I can't fit both the Hurricanum and a Steam Tank in at 1500....dangit! In that case, is the Luminark any good?

Hmm, the light wagon has an interesting bound spell, it can nuke single models fairly well but the 6+ ward is weak. Then again that is more impact hits at strength 5.

I'd swap out 1 unit of demi-gryphs for reiksguard knights.
Stubborn guys with a 1+ save is really useful. You can use them to grab units until the steam tank(s) show up.
